About The Position

This position conducts, maintains, tests, and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components. The role applies knowledge of electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operation. It provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of manufacturing. The role also involves providing leadership, guidance, and completing assigned work to support equipment and system reliability and efficient plant operations. All assigned work and tasks must be completed in a timely and professional manner. Communication is essential with various groups, including the Maintenance Supervisor, Production Managers, Production Associates, and fellow Technicians, during daily, weekly, and monthly travel paths, assigned tasks, work, and failure response efforts. This communication includes verbal updates and documentation of work in the CMMS system, detailing parts required, time to complete, and any additional work or parts needed. The role requires troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment, including programmable controls, variable speed AC drives, power supplies, gearboxes, and pumps in a timely manner. Proper maintenance of assigned equipment by completing all PM Procedures and ensuring excellent condition is crucial. Safe work practices, including adherence to facility, state, and federal regulations, must be followed. All startup and shutdown procedures for each department must be completed in a timely manner in accordance with all federal, state, local, company, and facility safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown requirements. Attendance and participation in all safety and staff meetings and activities are required, along with strict adherence to all federal, state, local, company, and facility safety procedures and guidelines. Informing appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers is necessary. Adherence to all company programs supporting equipment and system reliability, efficient plant operations, and food safety is expected. The role includes assisting in the training and development of new Technicians and fostering an atmosphere of knowledge sharing and urgency. Attendance and participation in required training courses, classes, and meetings are mandatory. Adherence to the company’s food safety programs, procedures, and guidelines is essential, and supervisors/managers must be notified of any potential quality or food safety issues. Performing Travel Paths in assigned areas, identifying issues, planning work orders, completing or scheduling work, and completing Food Safety, Plant Safety & Red Tag work orders as assigned are key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas.
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes, read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment and especially must be able to interface and communicate with line operators in order to assist with repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Computer experience/operation and an understanding of PLC operation are necessary.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects/repairs simultaneously.
  • Must have knowledge of machining and assembly practices, tools and fixtures.
  • Must have complete knowledge of shop operations.
  • This position requires an organized individual, who is self-motivated and can work independently.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience across electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment including PLCs, variable speed AC drives, power supplies, gearboxes, and pumps.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and use diagnostic instruments.
  • Computer experience and working knowledge of PLC operation.
  • Knowledge of machining, assembly practices, tools, fixtures, and shop operations.
  • MUST HAVE MANUFACTURING OR FOOD MANUFACTURING BACKGROUND

Nice To Haves

  • Tig and stick welding skills a plus
  • Food manufacturing background (preferred but not required)
  • TIG and stick welding skills

Responsibilities

Benefits

  • Compensation: $25–$35/hr ($52,000–$62,400 annually); up to $35/hr ($72,800) for advanced technical experience
