About The Position

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic based in West Jordan, UT! In this role, you will be responsible for supporting plant operations by maintaining plant equipment in either the Packaging, Processing, or Warehouse business unit to meet and/or exceed the business unit’s goals and objectives in safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and customer service. The Maintenance Mechanic ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative and corrective maintenance requirements on various types of industrial equipment. Maintenance Mechanics work on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule. Night shift will be scheduled 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM. Work schedules may include nights, weekends, and/or holidays to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Demonstrate strong competency in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulics and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to use industrial trucks (i.e., forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks).
  • Read and write, interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports, SOPs, and correspondence as well as speak effectively to employees and customers.
  • Strong problem solving and reasoning skills and the ability to understand and execute from instructions.
  • Mathematical skills to calculate, compute, resolve, interpret, and formulate for problem solving.
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical procedures as related to manufacturing maintenance applications.
  • Knowledge of machine functions, equipment safety hazards, power source, stored energy, pinch points, and possesses experiences welding skills.
  • Understand and demonstrate maintenance food safety techniques to ensure product quality while performing maintenance activities.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding all established quality standards.
  • Complete all appropriate assigned safety, health, and environmental training in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal compliance with all federal, state, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures for Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision to complete maintenance activities timely.
  • Ability to adapt and adjust to changing work environments, competing demands, and deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Will be required to adhere and comply with state and federal lay, the Company ISO Quality Program and procedures, Company policies, and Safety and Environmental Regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of industrial maintenance experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adhering to all safety, health, and environmental standards, taking personal responsibility to prevent injury or illness.
  • Following all permit procedures, including lock-out/tag-out, confined space, arc flash, and work-at-heights requirements.
  • Using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) daily to document maintenance activities, including time, parts used, work performed, abnormalities, and follow-up actions.
  • Performing maintenance activities—preventive, corrective, breakdown, and work orders—to improve equipment performance, reliability, and product quality in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshooting equipment and parts failures using reasoning and analysis, and participating in focused improvement activities as assigned.
  • Addressing and resolving equipment and system faults related to ASRS, conveyors, and other Flow Department equipment. This may involve physically demanding tasks, such as climbing inside the ASRS up to 10 levels high while wearing fall protection.
  • Using and caring for personal and company tools and equipment properly and professionally.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work site during maintenance activities and in assigned areas.
  • Responding promptly to maintenance calls, coordinating with maintenance and area leadership to prioritize work.
  • Communicating effectively with maintenance and area owners regarding safety issues, quality concerns, and delays in work completion.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure adherence to plant standards and procedures (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, HOPE, Danone Behaviors, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE).
  • Participate and own the implementation and deployment of IWS system and its pillars (Leadership foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE; Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization; Supply Network; Early Equipment Management) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and owning your continuous improvement.
