Atlas Roofing Shingles & Underlayment is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for Clinton, IA.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, welding, piping, or industrial machinery is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and equipment documentation.
  • Ability to identify equipment issues, evaluate potential causes, and develop effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to organize work, manage priorities, maintain accurate records, and properly manage tools and materials.
  • Ability to communicate relevant and timely information clearly and effectively with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and other plant personnel.
  • Demonstrates initiative and accountability for completing assigned work accurately and within expected timeframes.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to enter information into maintenance systems, spreadsheets, or other electronic records.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic, safely and effectively use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, welding equipment, torches, and other maintenance-related tools.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Technical training, vocational education, or certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, welding, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, adjust, modify, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on a variety of plant equipment and facility systems.
  • Inspect, dismantle, repair, replace, install, clean, and assemble mechanical equipment and components as needed.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to support equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment issues and communicate findings and recommendations to Maintenance Supervision and Engineering.
  • Assist with equipment modifications, improvements, and installations.
  • Perform pipe installations, repairs, and modifications throughout the facility.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, equipment drawings, manuals, and technical documentation to support equipment installation and repairs.
  • Operate and utilize welding equipment, torches, cutting equipment, power tools, and other mechanical maintenance tools.
  • Work with the Maintenance Supervisor to maintain appropriate levels of spare parts and backup components for mechanical equipment.
  • Complete daily shift inspection and repair logs and communicate relevant maintenance activities and equipment concerns to supervision and other plant personnel.
  • Follow all company policies, plant procedures, and safety requirements, including proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Support and promote a strong reliability culture through proactive maintenance practices and effective communication.
  • Work collaboratively with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and other plant personnel to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Promote a positive team environment and appropriately address safety, quality, and performance concerns with peers.
  • Attend training and travel as needed based on business and operational requirements.
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned.
