About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring food safety and quality policies are followed, reporting any food safety or quality issues to the appropriate personnel. The position requires adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, working safely, and reporting any unsafe conditions or acts. The Maintenance Mechanic is crucial in ensuring a safe and wholesome product is produced. This role also includes other duties as required.

Requirements

• Three (3) year minimum maintenance background in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of machines & tools, including their designs, uses & repair.
• Ability to read & understand information and ideas presented in writing.
• Ability to weld (prefer MIG, TIG, ARC & Oxy/acetylene) and SS fabrication.
• Knowledge of 3-phase electrical systems and distribution.
• Knowledge of power transmission & pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems including chain & gear drives, gearboxes, pneumatics & hydraulics.
• Knowledge of all aspects of mechanical & electrical safety.
• Willingness to work overtime, and weekends & respond to emergency calls during the off shifts.
• Manufacturing experience.
• Forklift and aerial lift experience.

Nice To Haves

• Skills in troubleshooting power & control circuits, as well as AC, DC & and servo-meters.
• Skilled in installing & programming VFDs, PLCs, and process instrumentation.
• Ability to use a computer, digital multi-meter, megger, loop calibrator, amp probe & circuit tracer.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, incl. ladder logic.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring food safety/quality policies are followed.
• Reporting all food safety/quality problems out of his/her realm of responsibility to personnel with the authority to initiate action.
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Work safely and report all unsafe working conditions and/or unsafe acts to the supervisor immediately.
• Making sure a good safe wholesome product is produced safely.
• Performing other duties as required.
