About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of plant packaging machinery, conveyor equipment, and related systems, including the construction and installation of new systems as assigned. This role supports operations by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing packaging equipment. Through effective preventive and corrective maintenance, the supervisor helps improve equipment uptime and reliability while supporting the facility’s production, quality, and cost-efficiency goals.

Requirements

  • Must comply with GMP requirements; specific functions and documents will be discussed in GMP and on the job training
  • Requires bachelor’s degree (preferably in engineering or another technical field)
  • 10+ years of experience as machine maintenance manager or similar role with in manufacturing machines
  • Advance electrical skills
  • Knowledge on repairing belting, chains, conveyors, motors, pumps, hydraulics, piping
  • Lock out-tag-out knowledge.
  • Must be reliable and detail-oriented associate.
  • Ability to understand schematics and drawing.
  • Ability to maintain maintenance logs and SOP’s
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Demonstrate time management, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with maintenance software
  • Experience with leading a maintenance team
  • Ability to maintain positive vendor relationships
  • Knowledge in maintaining expenses within set budget
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours
  • Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment
  • Must be able to successfully clear drug screening processes, which include testing for all illegal substances per Federal Guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Uses hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments to repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.
  • Ensure associates follow all cGMPs and safety policies.
  • Responsible for the productivity of associates regarding timeliness in diagnosing and completing necessary maintenance and repairs.
  • Develop and implement any preventive maintenance programs to minimize machine breakdowns due to failure of systems under their control.
  • Participate in the planning and scheduling of construction work to be done by either plant associates or outside contractors and is responsible for the timely and efficient completion of the work.
  • Supervises the team to ensure effective and efficient set-ups, changeovers, PMs, repairs, training and other tasks.
  • Coordinates equipment installation as needed.
  • Inspect equipment to prevent downtime as needed.
  • Coach and develop subordinates, maintaining morale and discipline in the facility and to initiate corrective actions when required.
  • Ensure maintenance materials inventory is accurate and available.
  • Evaluate equipment parts for inventory.
  • Provide daily work assignments to maintenance team members.
  • Manage daily goal setting to achieve maximum machine uptime and productivity.
  • Issues and monitor PO’s to vendors for parts services.
  • Ensures the team adheres to government regulations, including EPA, OSHA and FDA.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
