About The Position

Folkland Foods is a rapidly growing frozen potato manufacturer producing premium French fries, tater tots, and specialty potato products for customers across the United States. We are looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined individual who enjoys solving problems, working with their hands, and being part of a team that takes pride in producing exceptional food. This position is unique. While maintenance is the primary responsibility, this role also serves as an Operations Support Associate—helping keep production running smoothly by assisting wherever needed throughout the facility. The First-Shift Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining production equipment, responding to equipment issues, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting production operations throughout the day. This position plays a key role in maximizing equipment uptime, preparing equipment for the next production day, and supporting the operations team during peak production hours.

Requirements

  • Previous industrial maintenance experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment independently.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb stairs.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Work in refrigerated, freezer, and warm production environments.
  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery while following all company safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in food manufacturing is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of conveyors, motors, bearings, pneumatics, hydraulics, and packaging equipment is a plus.
  • Forklift or scissor lift experience is a plus.
  • Takes ownership of problems until they're solved.
  • Enjoys troubleshooting mechanical challenges.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Has a positive attitude and a willingness to help wherever needed.
  • Understands that keeping production running is everyone's responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment, conveyors, packaging equipment, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and processing equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance according to scheduled PM programs.
  • Inspect equipment for potential issues before failures occur.
  • Replace bearings, belts, chains, motors, sensors, valves, pneumatic components, and other mechanical parts.
  • Assist with electrical troubleshooting as qualified.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
  • Keep the maintenance shop organized and stocked.
  • Participate in equipment installations and continuous improvement projects.
  • Respond quickly to production downtime and equipment issues.
  • Assist operators with equipment adjustments and changeovers.
  • Help maintain production flow during busy periods.
  • Support sanitation and startup activities when needed.
  • Assist with warehouse or production tasks during periods of low maintenance activity.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and product quality.
