About The Position

Innophos is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic - Millwright to complete work orders including removing, repairing, and installing machinery and equipment in the field at the Geismar Plant. This role requires the ability to communicate with unit operations to ensure work sites are prepared and to avoid interfering with other activities. The mechanic must follow lockout-tag out procedures, verify entry permits, and ensure lines are closed and locked. Responsibilities include dismantling failed equipment, transporting it to the shop, assessing it for repair, ordering parts, and reassembling the equipment. The role also involves re-installing machinery, aligning equipment, performing checks for leaks, and ensuring efficient operation. The mechanic must be able to perform under stress in emergency situations, utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per job task specifications, and complete all required regulatory and company-mandated training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); certification from technical school or 5 years of millwright experience in an industrial environment
  • 5 years of millwright experience in an industrial environment
  • Working knowledge of dismantling, removing, and re-installing equipment in the plant
  • Computer literacy
  • Forklift operations
  • Experience operating up to a 25 ton crane
  • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices including the proper wearing of clean protective clothing, following personal hygiene standards, and adherence to food/drink/tobacco restrictions

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with unit operations to ensure the work site has been prepared and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers.
  • Follows lockout-tag out procedures, checking for documentation of entry permit and check to make sure lines are closed and locked.
  • Dismantle failed equipment (motors, pumps) using hand and power tools such as hammers, wrenches, crowbars, etc. Transports it to the shop using hoist, lift trucks, dollies, and rollers.
  • Assess the failed equipment, order replacement parts, and assembles the equipment with the new parts.
  • Re-install machinery after prepping the supporting surface. Bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fasten machinery to the foundation.
  • Align machines and equipment, using micrometers and plumb bobs.
  • Perform checks for leaks and ensures equipment is operating efficiently.
  • Must perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per job task specification or specified plant location
  • Perform other duties based on changes in operational, safety or environmental factors
  • Demonstrate management’s commitment to safety
  • Utilize PPE according to specific plant location or per job task specification.
  • Complete all HSE regulatory training and any company mandated training related to HSE, maintenance, production, food safety, and security
