The Maintenance/Construction Technician III is responsible for ensuring that all facilities at the North Carolina Justice Academy are maintained in a high state of readiness. This role performs skilled work across multiple trades—including plumbing, mechanical, and structural systems—while supporting preventative maintenance, repairs, and campus improvement initiatives. The position also plays a key role in maintaining safety, functionality, and security across campus buildings and infrastructure. Some travel, including some occasional overnight stays are required. The selected candidate is subject to a background investigation. The North Carolina Justice Academy (with campuses in Edneyville and Salemburg) provides basic, intermediate, and advanced training for law enforcement officers on topics including anti-terrorism, community-oriented policing, criminal investigation, traffic crash investigation, firearms, self-defense, and management and supervision. Additionally, the Academy provides basic, intermediate, and advanced training for Detention Officers and Telecommunicators on behalf of the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission.
