About The Position

Maintains the safe operation and maintenance of building facilities and demonstrates proven competency in at least two of the following areas: Electrical/Wiring, Mechanical/HVAC Systems, Plumbing/Pipefitting, Pneumatic Tube Station Repair. Operates and maintains designated equipment and building systems. Conducts surveys and inventories. Performs preventive maintenance activities. Responds to customer complaints and service requests. Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains facility equipment. Building Maintenance: Repairs and adjusts doors, windows, closures, panic devices, and locks. Patches holes and installs escutcheons. Repairs ceiling and floor tiles as needed to maintain building appearance. Performs minor masonry and wood repairs. Installs pictures, coat hooks, wall-mounted furnishings, and equipment as requested. Equipment and Systems Maintenance: Inspects, operates, repairs, and maintains, within assigned areas of competency, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and plant equipment and systems commonly found in institutional facilities, including but not limited to: Electrical Systems (Lights, Receptacles, Circuit breakers, Motors, Switches, Alarms), Mechanical/HVAC Systems (Pumps, Valves, Fans, Compressors, HVAC systems, Heaters, Tanks, Emergency generators, Similar equipment), Plumbing Systems (Expansion tanks, Sinks, Commodes, Hot and cold water systems, Circulating pumps, Air vents). May operate and repair steam systems. May perform daily chemical testing on chilled water, condenser water, steam, and hot water systems. Adjusts chemical mixtures and feed rates as necessary to ensure proper water treatment chemical levels are maintained. Documentation and Compliance: Enters data into computer systems. Maintains records and files. Interprets applicable regulations and filing and auditing policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance. Additional Responsibilities: Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building maintenance.
  • Working knowledge in their area of competency of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, Plant operations, structural, or general carpentry.
  • May require a valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Some positions within this classification may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, and twist.
