About The Position

Job Summary Perform all-around maintenance and repair services in several crafts, such as electrical, carpentry, welding, plumbing, sheet metal, millwright, and painting, at a moderately complex level. Apply skills in a primary craft gained from practical experience. Possess an in-depth understanding of maintenance history of the building, equipment, and other facilities to be maintained. Use expertise for diagnosis and emergency repairs, provide preventive and cost-efficient repairs, use all shop machinery and hand tools, act as leader for less-skilled assistants, consult with engineers and vendors. The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following: Following all site safety and environmental policies. Including but not limited to completing safe work permits, following life saving principles, and adhering to PPE requirements. Ensure operation of plant and facility mechanical equipment by performing scheduled and unscheduled repairs, rebuilds, inspections, and routines. This includes providing proper record-keeping, especially of all safety checks. Serve as a support person to other departments by trouble-shooting equipment failures in the mechanical area in a timely manner for production operations. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to plant and facility equipment as needed for cost effective and efficient operations. Perform plant rounds, water readings, wastewater samples, boiler and refrigeration checks, and water treatment analysis as needed to insure efficient operations. Ensure safe keeping of company equipment by acting responsibly and maintaining in good order company issued hand tools, and all other site tools or supplies used during performance of duties. Update equipment history files as work is performed on equipment. Responsible for noting, on Maintenance bluelines, electrical wiring diagrams, control schematics or P & ID drawings, any changes, modifications made to the process systems. Maintain accurate spare parts usage log. Perform basic 3 phase wiring repairs to include motor replacements as required. Keep work area clean and provide assistance in cleaning entire shop area. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Compliance with applicable company policies concerning maintaining a drug free workplace is required. Compliance with all other Company policies is required. Other functions as required (non-essential functions). Adherence to all Management Systems: ISO 9000, ISO 14000 and Food Safety, with an understanding of IFF’s Quality/Environmental Policy and procedures. Responsible for putting used oil wastes into the appropriate hazardous waste drum in the hazardous waste area just outside the maintenance shop and labeling each drum when the first drop is put into the drum. Inform the Maintenance Supervisor when drums are full, so arrangements can be made for proper disposal.
