About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic II (Hospital) performs general maintenance as directed, and as necessary, on all aspects of the building structure and systems to include the floors, walls, ceilings, lighting, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other related items. This role involves making independent decisions based on test results and overall system requirements, observing operating equipment, keeping logs current, and responding to trouble calls from various Chesapeake Regional Medical Group buildings. The position also requires assisting with alarm systems and maintaining confidentiality of patient, personnel, and department information.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Appropriate experience in lieu of HS/GED may be considered.
  • 1 year in Facility Maintenance or related field.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from an accredited trade/vocational school.
  • Type I, Type II or Universal Refrigerant Certification (EPA).

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance on building structure and systems (floors, walls, ceilings, lighting, mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
  • Make independent decisions based on test results and system requirements.
  • Observe operating equipment for unusual noises, vibrations, and other symptoms of problems.
  • Take appropriate readings and interpret variations from prior entries.
  • Keep logs current and accurate.
  • Unclog plumbing backups using blueprints, power snakes, plungers, and by removing piping components.
  • Perform basic maintenance on heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
  • Complete assigned preventive maintenance work orders.
  • Maintain inventory and stock of supplies for facility and equipment repairs.
  • Keep tools and parts in good operating condition.
  • Keep assigned areas clean and in good overall appearance.
  • Respond to trouble calls from tenants of Chesapeake Regional Medical Group buildings (hospital, ambulatory care centers, medical office buildings).
  • Respond to codes as required and assist Security.
  • Assist in testing alarm systems (e.g., fire alarm system).
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient, personnel, and department information.
  • Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services.
  • Demonstrate commitment to flexible work scheduling.
  • Repair/replace light fixtures (ballasts, bulbs, etc.).
