About The Position

Basalite Building Products, LLC is one of the largest manufacturers of concrete masonry products in the Western United States. Product lines include structural block, interlocking paving stones, engineered wall systems, retaining walls, ornamental and garden products, and a full range of sack goods. We are a proud member of the Pacific Coast Building Products Family of Companies. This position supports the maintenance area in all areas of manufacturing. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Basic welding and machinery maintenance experience required.
  • Ability to operate forklift, drill press, welders, angle grinders, multi-function electrical test meter, hand tools, and any other equipment required to perform duties.
  • On-the-job training experience is required to be able to perform duties.
  • Requires basic reading and writing skills.
  • Basic mathematics and counting skills are required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional manner in dealing with employees and the public.
  • Operation of mobile electronic equipment may be required.
  • Valid Driver’s License may be required to operate personal and Basalite vehicles on public roadways.
  • Predictable, and Regular attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Four years of welding and machinery maintenance experience is beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electricity is beneficial.
  • Forklift operational experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Properly measure utilizing a tape measure and calipers.
  • Properly operate an oxygen/acetylene torch and a plasma cutter.
  • Arc weld in various positions and types of joints.
  • Read and evaluate work order/plan of action and plan projects accordingly.
  • Perform and document daily pre-operational inspections on equipment and work areas.
  • Perform safety inspections on equipment and make needed adjustments and/or repairs.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on manufacturing/process equipment.
  • Fill out required paperwork including inspections and work orders, etc.
  • Replace equipment parts with proper instructions.
  • Determine whether to repair or replace worn or dysfunctional parts as needed.
  • Perform basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems troubleshooting.
  • Read and troubleshoot simple pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
  • Rebuild cylinders and hydraulic valves.
  • Repair and set up all types of molds to company standards.
  • Use a multi-functional electrical test meter.
  • Read and troubleshoot simple electrical schematics.
  • Perform electrical system troubleshooting and repair or replace components as needed.
  • Wire and phase direction single- and three-phase motors & contactors.
  • Troubleshoot and make modifications to various equipment as needed.
  • Determine if a machine must be shut down for repairs.
  • Operate shop equipment; drill press, welders, grinder, multi-function electrical test meter, cutting equipment, pressure washer, overhead hoists, hand tools, and any other equipment required to perform duties.
  • Perform minor component/parts requisition and purchasing.
  • Perform basic rigging and lifting practices as needed.
  • Perform basic welding practices with various metals.
  • Assist in fabricating projects working with various materials and tools.
  • Lay out and fabricate from drawings.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of plant equipment, location, and name.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the safety requirements for performing maintenance on equipment and tools.
  • Start or jog equipment to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Operate forklift, manlift, and other mobile equipment.
  • Utilize electronic devices to troubleshoot equipment issues as required.
  • Work with operators and supervisors to solve problems with machinery.
  • Perform after-hours emergency repair work as needed.
  • Regularly meet with supervisor.
  • Maintain work area clean and clutter-free per company standards.
  • Attend safety meetings and abide by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensure that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
