About The Position

Under general supervision, performs skills of average difficulty; repairing and maintaining Crittenton Hospital Medical Center’s (CHMC) equipment, buildings, facilities, and grounds. This position is located at Henry Ford Hospital- Rochester, MI.

Requirements

  • High school graduate - required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in any combination of training.
  • Education and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manufacturers specifications.
  • Must be familiar with building maintenance techniques, and be able to understand and comply with all the codes and regulations of one or more of the following: Plumbing and Sanitation, Electrical, Refrigeration, Carpentry and/or Commercial Painting.
  • Working knowledge of all tools (hand, electric, etc.).
  • Ability to work under emergency conditions, and in above average situations.
  • Initiative and judgment involved in determining cause of failure of electrical, plumbing or refrigeration and servicing equipment to keep them operating efficiently.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safety codes.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in repairing, removing, and installation of heavy equipment.
  • Operates parking structure maintenance equipment.
  • Maintains and performs minor repairs to parking structure.
  • Minor refrigeration maintenance.
  • Assemble new equipment.
  • Cleans, lubricates, and makes minor repairs to motors and electrical fixtures.
  • Performs preventative maintenance as specified by supervision.
  • Clean up work area when finished with a job.
  • Construct, install, and adjust cabinets and other wood making.
  • Varnish and paint small items.
  • Small plaster repairs.
  • Minor carpenter work.
  • Ark and gas welding.
  • Maintains and makes lock repairs.
  • Install tile; ceiling, wall, and floor.
  • Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of CHMC through performing behaviors consistent with the CHMC Standards of Performance and Code of Ethics.
  • Promotes a positive work environment as evidenced by quality service and positive staff attitudes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager of facilities Management.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
