The Maintenance Mechanic II is an experienced maintenance generalist responsible for performing a variety of basic and intermediate mechanical and preventive maintenance tasks, as well as inspections, servicing, repair, and overhaul of equipment and facilities. This role involves investigating the need for repairs and collaborating with other facility personnel to ensure timely completion of approved projects. The mechanic receives assignments, reviews work orders, priority status, and time schedules to complete work as specified. They are responsible for identifying and securing appropriate supplies and equipment, and selecting appropriate process techniques. The position also involves performing basic and general maintenance duties, cleaning, assembling, moving, installing, operating, testing, and servicing portable and fixed equipment, associated mechanical equipment, and fixtures. The Maintenance Mechanic II uses hand and power tools, precision measuring and testing instruments, and is tasked with repairing or replacing defective devices and control instruments, and installing special functional and structural parts. They detect malfunctions, maintain, and repair machinery and mechanical equipment according to diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's specifications, and written and oral instructions. Documentation of all required records and information pertinent to assignments, work orders, instruction manuals, blueprints, and other materials is also a key part of the role. The mechanic updates practices as necessary to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and researches new techniques, materials, and equipment, making recommendations to management. This position is deemed emergency personnel during emergency conditions.
