About The Position

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on all equipment throughout the mill operation. This individual plays a critical role in minimizing facility downtime by proactively detecting, diagnosing, and resolving complex mechanical and electrical problems before they cause operational disruptions.

Requirements

  • Safely performing all phases of maintenance, including basic electrical and mechanical systems (i.e. fabricating, welding, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing required preventative maintenance).
  • Maintain required records, reporting in writing any uncorrected mechanical/electrical defects and replacement parts to the supervisor.
  • Coordinating equipment downtime, services and problems with area operators and detecting potential mechanical/electrical problems and planning for repairs.

  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance, service, or operation.
  • Reads instructions / labels and performs work as assigned by department supervisor or lead.
  • Must have ability to lead and train lower-level maintenance personnel.
  • Be able to make decisions and judgments on an ongoing basis.
  • Be familiar with all some phases of maintenance, including electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Know the proper lubricating technique for all mill equipment.
  • perform routine services and troubleshoot and repair all mill equipment.
  • weld and fabricate to repair all mill equipment, and installation of new equipment as needed.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Perform basic computers operations using Windows, Word and Excel.
  • Work in confined spaces and at high elevations up to 120 feet.
  • Perform daily safety inspections and identify safety hazards.
  • Learn how to load trucks with z-scale and Repete.
  • Perform mathematical problems (add, subtract, multiply and division)
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and problem solving.
  • Must have good communication skills and be able To work as a team.
  • 2-4 years of production equipment maintenance experience.
  • MS Office – Excel, Word
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize successfully

Nice To Haves

  • Computer systems to create spreadsheets is a plus
  • College coursework in technical field desired
