About The Position

This position is responsible for repairing, overhauling, maintaining, installing, and modifying equipment and facilities. The role involves identifying and implementing preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting various systems (vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic, induction heating, lubrication, abrasive and pressure cleaning), and maintaining machine tools and equipment used for maintenance. Safety is a key objective, requiring adherence to safety rules, safe operation of equipment, and identification and reporting of safety problems. The role may involve working with hazardous waste and requires completing logs and records. Additionally, the position may involve training less skilled personnel, participating in Hazardous Materials Spill Response, and completing specific certifications.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on tech cards, work orders, repair manuals, blueprints and drawings.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work independently and in a team effectively.
Ability to assist other departments through planning and technical assistance processes.
Valid driver's license is required to drive PCC vehicles.
Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
Individuals may have contact with or be required to handle hazardous waste.

Nice To Haves

Four years journey level work using a skill set found in Journey Maintenance work: plumbing, sheet metal, machinist, auto or welding skill sets with heating/venting and air conditioning, and carpentry preferred.
Two years of trade school or apprenticeship training in an applicable skill set is preferred.
An equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience.

Responsibilities

Repair, overhaul, maintain, install, and fabricate modifications to equipment and facilities.
Identify and implement preventive maintenance programs for equipment and facilities.
Troubleshoot vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic, induction heating, lubrication, abrasive and pressure cleaning systems and their components.
Maintain machine tools and equipment used for maintenance.
Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
Safely operate all equipment and tools.
Identify and report safety problems, correcting them when possible.
May be required to work with hazardous waste.
Complete logs and records.
Train less skilled personnel as assigned.
Perform other tasks as directed.
May be required to participate in Hazardous Materials Spill Response team.
