Performs a variety of skilled tasks associated with the trade of locksmith. Essential duties include utilizing schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to complete various tasks such as setting key schedules for a facility, working with a master key system (e.g., Best Locks), following manufacturer’s manuals and specific documentation for prepping doors to receive hardware components, pinning lock cores, and duplicating keys. The role involves replacing and installing new equipment to improve operations and security, using appropriate hand tools, testing and diagnostic equipment, and simple machine tools like key cutting machines, grinders, and portable electric tools. The mechanic will improvise acceptable fixes when necessary to ensure equipment and fixtures are working properly while maintaining safety and security. They will also work with manufacturers’ representatives to set key schedules per Fulton County Schools’ standards and with school or facility representatives to maintain the facilities key box. Other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
