About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic I performs preventive maintenance tasks, and assists in the diagnoses, disassemble, and assembly of machines and facility equipment. Assist with lubrication of machinery, changes parts, or perform other routine repairs. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on various machines with or without assistance.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance or general construction trades required
  • Minimum of 1 year of related manufacturing experience and/or training
  • basic hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with PLC experience
  • Ability to learn to read, interpret manufacturers drawings, blueprints and written instructions
  • Familiarity with Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
  • Ability to learn Work Order program and Word Processing software
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions
  • Ability to speak and present information in one-on-one situations to other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Mechanical – Ability to understand bearings, mechanical power transmission, chain drives, belt drives, gear drives, couplings, mechanical fasteners, packing and seals, pumps, conveyors, pipe fittings and valves
  • Ability to use a variety of machine shop equipment, including hand and power tools
  • Welding- Ability to understand welding principles
  • Forklift operation- safety and handling
  • Oil and Filtration. Types and safety
  • Metal scraping and waste disposal. Types and safety
  • Electrical – basic knowledge to lock and tag out equipment for repair
  • Must maintain either no facial hair or a NIOSH Approved Beard as pursuit to Cal/OSHA California Code or Regulations, Title 8, Section 5144(g)(1)(A) and pass an annual respirator fit test.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance on physical structures, including machines, associated equipment, and/or oil separators and mop water containers in order to comply with company safety policies and procedures and manufacturer suggested services procedures.
  • Follow all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to; keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organize part pans, and performs other housekeeping duties.
  • Utilizes work orders to indicate necessary maintenance repair.
  • Attends all required job related training (internal and external).
  • Assist team members, when necessary, on breakdowns and when servicing equipment.
  • Removes recyclable waste metals from machine areas and depositing them in the hazardous waste recycling haul off yard containers.
  • Clears all spills (water, oil, and other liquids) and disposing in appropriate locations in order to comply with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Surveys, clears and cleans the Oil Containment yard and the plant’s air compressor areas.
  • Delivers oil to various operations departments as needed.
  • Picks up emptied oil drums and relocates to appropriate locations for recycling or re-use.
  • Uses fork-lift to move equipment, oil drums, mop water and waste metals containers.
  • Follow all department and company measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
  • Employee responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • Employee responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Employee required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.

Benefits

  • Pay Scale: $21.72-$28.58
  • Alternative Work Schedule: 4/10 Schedule Monday-Thursday, 3:00pm-1:30am
