About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing various building systems and equipment, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, pumps, and fans. This role involves performing routine preventive maintenance and corrective repairs to ensure optimal equipment reliability and performance. The position also includes conducting daily facility rounds, monitoring building automation systems, responding to service requests and emergencies, and maintaining accurate maintenance records. The Maintenance Mechanic I will support facility safety programs, comply with company policies, and collaborate with facility management and other team members. Participation in rotating on-call schedules for emergency response is also required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in commercial building maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building automation systems.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment issues and perform preventive and corrective maintenance independently.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, manuals, blueprints, and work orders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a customer-focused environment.
  • Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, walk for extended periods, and perform physical maintenance activities including bending, kneeling, crouching, and working in confined spaces.
  • Must be available for after-hours, weekend, and emergency call-in assignments as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or trade school training preferred.
  • Proficiency using maintenance management systems and basic computer applications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, pumps, and other building systems and equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and corrective repairs to ensure equipment reliability and optimal performance.
  • Conduct daily facility rounds to identify operational issues, safety hazards, leaks, temperature concerns, and other maintenance needs.
  • Monitor and maintain building automation and control systems to support efficient facility operations.
  • Respond promptly to service requests, equipment failures, and emergency situations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate equipment status, repair recommendations, and operational concerns to management.
  • Support facility safety programs and comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with facility management and other maintenance team members to complete daily assignments and special projects.
  • Participate in rotating on-call schedules and provide emergency response support as required.
