About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician Level 4 is responsible for observing electrical devices, diagnosing and resolving issues, and performing repairs on various electrical and mechanical systems. This role involves working with a range of tools and equipment, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining plant operations. The position also includes administrative duties such as work order entry and communication with supervisors.

Requirements

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory and includes cut-resistant and heat-resistant gloves and sleeves, safety glasses, goggles, face shields, bump caps, ear plugs, and steel-toed shoes
  • The job involves continuous use of hand tools ranging from small screwdrivers to large pipe wrenches, requiring both fine dexterity and physical force
  • Troubleshooting drives, contactors, fuses, motor starters, HMIs, PLCs, low voltage control wiring and AC voltages up to 480VAC
  • Installing power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as conveyors and programmable controllers
  • Connecting power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connecting cables and wires between machines and equipment
  • Diagnosing malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replacing damaged or broken wire and cables
  • Replacing faulty electrical components on machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positioning sensing devices
  • Diagnosing and repairing or replacing faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards
  • Replacing electric motor bearings and rewiring motors
  • Planning layout of wiring and installing wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings
  • Utilizing a computer system for work order entry and tracking completion status
  • Initiating purchase orders for parts and machines
  • Keeping supervisors informed of any problems or unusual situations

Responsibilities

  • Observes electrical devices in operation and determines causes of trouble
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices, control instruments, and programs
  • Troubleshoots drives, contactors, fuses, motor starters, HMIs, PLCs, low voltage control wiring and AC voltages up to 480VAC
  • Starts devices to test their performance
  • Position requires pushing toolbox to work areas
  • Requires carrying, lifting, and transporting of parts to and from work location and maintenance shop by hand or mechanical means
  • Cleans work area, tools, and equipment
  • Assist with mechanical repairs as time and need allows
  • Plant startup and shutdown tasks
  • Energizing equipment, and ensuring proper operation
  • Installing power supply wiring and conduit for new machines
  • Connecting power and communication cables
  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical apparatus such as transformers, motors, relays, switches, and printed circuit boards
  • Maintenance of electric motors, including bearing replacement and rewiring
  • Planning and installing wiring layouts and conduits in buildings
