About The Position

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is seeking a self-starter with an interest in providing clerical support and thriving in a team environment, with opportunities for career growth. The Facilities Management Section is responsible for maintaining all facilities that support the core mission of the WSP. This position provides facility maintenance at various locations including district headquarters, detachment offices, truck weigh stations, radio communication sites, training academies, and other agency facilities. The role ensures all facility repairs are completed in a timely manner, supporting the WSP's core mission.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply working drawings and blueprints.
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic hand and power tools safely, effectively, and efficiently.
  • 4+ years performing construction/building related trades (HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, concrete/masonry, painting, electrical, cabinetry, building security) OR certified welder with 4+ years welding OR 2+ years performing installation, repairs, and/or certifications of scales and associated equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Works effectively with others, while promoting a cooperative environment.
  • Carefully observes and reports potential hazards, security issues and workplace safety concerns.
  • Follows all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Conveys a willingness to help and respects the opinion of others.

  • Must obtain a Class A CDL within two years of permanent hire.
  • Must be qualified to certify fixed and portable truck weigh scales within two years of permanent hire.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment polygraph examination and background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Providing oversight of maintenance personnel.
  • Repair and modification of plant machinery and mechanical equipment, utilities, and fabrication and maintenance of scales.
  • Maintenance of facilities.
  • Directs journey-level trade workers and others engaged in maintenance, repair, and modifications to building equipment, machinery, power plants, and heavy equipment.
  • Reads plans and blueprints, inspects projects to ensure compliance with local codes and WSP regulations.
  • Determines scope of work, materials needed, and cost estimates.
  • Provides input to planning staff regarding scope of future projects.
  • Consults with the construction staff for direction on installation details.
  • May direct construction crews on site.
  • Provides facility support as requested by supervisor.
