About The Position

Join the Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW) as a skilled maintenance professional and play a vital role in keeping our facility safe, secure, and operating at its best. The goal of this position is to perform maintenance, repair, construction, and groundskeeping across a wide range of facility systems, including plumbing, HVAC, irrigation, steam, sewer and water systems, buildings, roads, pathways, fencing, and related equipment. As a WCCW’s groundskeeping technician, you will work independently and alongside a dedicated maintenance team to ensure our facilities and grounds remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. Your expertise will directly support WCCW’s mission to create a safe and healthy environment where incarcerated women have opportunities for growth and success. Requirements

  • GED/High School graduation
  • Two years of experience in building and maintenance trades or groundskeeping
  • Possession of a Washington State Drivers License
  • Must be able to acquire an Herbicide Applicators License within first 12 months of employment

Responsibilities

  • Planning, directing and performing skilled maintenance construction/repair and maintenance work to include: Servicing and maintaining facility ride-on and push mowers, weed whackers, de-thatcher’s, edge trimmers and chainsaws
  • Servicing, maintaining, and calibrating herbicide application related equipment to include backpack sprayers, tank sprayers and trailer mounted applicator
  • Working independently conducting general repairs throughout the facility
  • Assisting other maintenance staff as need in general maintenance activities such as plumbing repair, air handler and hydronic boiler systems maintenance, door assembly maintenance
  • Inspecting, diagnosing, serving, repairing, installing, and conducting preventive/corrective maintenance on plant equipment and systems such as grease interceptors, plumbing, boilers, low voltage systems, exhaust fans, plug in appliances, sewer meters and storm drains
  • Inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, installing and conducting preventive/corrective maintenance on buildings and structures to include floor systems, wall systems, doors, windows and roofs
  • Constructing, maintaining and repairing grounds, roads, pathways, walks and fencing.
  • Performing repairs on hinges, doors, jams, door operating mechanisms, install door cuff ports, change light bulbs and fluorescent tubes
  • Maintaining vegetation, lawn and landscape by mowing, weed whacking and pruning vegetation in and outside of the perimeter of the facility.
  • Supervising incarcerated individual crews in the performance of vegetation control and lawn and grounds maintenance tasks
  • Performing the administrative tasks for incarcerated individual crews including but not limited to training, payroll and safety requirements such as PPE, safe tool and equipment operation
  • Other duties as assigned
