About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic Level 2 on 2nd Shift (1:00 pm – 9:30 pm, Monday–Friday with weekends per business need), where you will help keep processing, blow molding, and packaging equipment running safely and efficiently. In this skilled, hands on role, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and basic electrical issues, and assist with equipment installations and modifications. You will work closely with operations to reduce downtime, support changeovers, and ensure all work is completed safely around chemicals such as bleach while wearing required PPE. This position has a base hourly rate of $39.14.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3 or more years of mechanical/maintenance experience in a high speed packaging, bottling, blow molding, or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with experience in hydraulics and pneumatics, basic welding or fabrication, and reading equipment manuals, blueprints, and simple schematics.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems at a maintenance mechanic level (motors, drives, low voltage controls) and safe work practices around 120–480 VAC.
  • Ability to work safely around chemicals and in both temperature controlled and non temperature controlled, high noise environments while wearing required PPE, including a full face respirator as necessary.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a customer service mindset with the ability to multi task in a fast paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and different shifts as needed, and ability to pass all required pre employment screenings
  • Must pass pre employment drug screen and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using a CMMS to record work orders, track parts, and support preventive maintenance programs (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Modify, repair, install, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot machinery, equipment, and facilities in the processing, blow molding, and packaging departments.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and provide timely repairs using skills in mechanics, fitting, plumbing, basic welding, metal fabrication, machining, troubleshooting, and analytical problem solving.
  • Operate machine shop and hand tools (mill, lathe, drill press, grinders, saws, etc.) to repair or fabricate parts as directed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections; document work orders and findings in the CMMS and assist with planning/scheduling work on down days.
  • Set up, take down, and relocate process and packaging equipment; support equipment and mold changeovers for new products and sizes.
  • Diagnose and repair basic electrical issues including motors, sensors, photo eyes, relays, variable speed drives, and 120–480 VAC circuits; escalate complex PLC and control problems to senior technicians as needed.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns with a customer focused approach, communicate status and parts needs to supervision, and follow all Health & Safety, Lockout/Tagout, GMP, and PPE requirements.
