About The Position

Mercy Gardens, a 23-unit affordable community with on-site services for area individuals who have experienced homelessness in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Maintenance Manager. This part-time position (32 hours per week) involves preparing units for new residents and maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule. The role requires strong hands-on plumbing and troubleshooting skills. Mercy Housing is a fair chance employer and will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Three (3) years of experience in skilled maintenance work.
Technical expertise in one or more building trade.
Legally operate a motor vehicle (valid driver's license and insurance).
Knowledge and Skills: Legally operate a motor vehicle.
Work in a collaborative manner and in a team environment.
Define and solve problems.
Comprehend and communicate in the English language, both orally and in writing.
Present information to groups of people.
Perform basic math and understand measurement systems used in the trade.
Read and interpret electrical, plumbing, and mechanical diagrams and blueprints.
Draft make working sketches.
Use maintenance, trade, and testing equipment and tools.

Responsibilities

Prepare units for new residents.
Maintain the preventative maintenance schedule.
Work with Property Manager to ensure that budgets are followed.
Meet unit turnover timelines.
Collaborate with Property Manager to ensure that preventative maintenance and maintenance contracts meet the best possible quality and expense standards.
Oversee work progress of vendors or outside contractors.
