As an integral part of the Delavan plant, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for executing on the deployment of Total Prevention Maintenance (TPM) processes across a complex recycled glass processing facility, including process development, training, and compliance auditing. This role will collaborate with Sibelco glass processing plants, regionally and nationwide, in the operation and maintenance of optical sorting machines and other industrial equipment. The Maintenance Manager will report to the Plant Manager and lead the plant maintenance team to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant equipment. They will practice and enforce safe practices within their department, train employees on safety and best practices, and ensure employees are trained on job-specific assignments. Responsibilities include the maintenance of pneumatic valves on optical sorting machines, auditing plant performance in completing maintenance tasks, and becoming a subject-matter expert in the operation and troubleshooting of optical sorting machines from multiple manufacturers. The role also involves calculating and issuing monthly fuel surcharge updates, championing and supporting Lean and Continuous Improvement Initiatives, changing belts and idler pulleys on trough-style conveyors, and developing and refining maintenance planning processes and preventive maintenance programs for mechanical and electrical equipment. The Maintenance Manager will evaluate and ensure the quality of maintenance performed by internal plant maintenance teams and external vendors, identify plant performance issues and provide recommendations for equipment and design changes, and lead plants in performing root cause analysis (8D process) of issues involving quality, yield, and uptime. They will manage the company-wide CMMS (SAP) system to track capital assets, life expectancy, and repair and maintenance (R&M) budget and costs. Additionally, the role involves managing equipment vendor relationships with major equipment suppliers, the global spare parts program, and spare parts inventory, including ordering parts and managing stocking levels. Overseeing the maintenance of forklifts, loaders, and other mobile equipment, and performing part number administration and entry are also key duties. The Maintenance Manager will perform hands-on escalated maintenance troubleshooting and repairs, periodic preventive maintenance checks, and basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs. They will provide coaching, training, and accountability to plant maintenance personnel and assist in hiring new plant maintenance personnel. This includes reportable reports administration in CMMS (SAP). The role supports Continuous Improvement initiatives, the emergency repair process, and provides first-line escalation support during equipment failures. The Maintenance Manager tracks equipment status, redistributes maintenance and spare-parts assets, and expedites high-priority repair efforts to maximize plant uptime performance. They demonstrate ethical decision-making, ownership of results, and consistency between words and actions. The role drives safety beyond compliance by actively identifying risks, leading by example, and embedding safe behaviors into daily operations. A structured, data-driven approach to problem-solving is utilized, applying disciplined methodologies (e.g., RCA, 5why) to identify root causes, implement sustainable solutions, and prevent recurrence. The goal is to shift the organization from reactive to planned maintenance by improving asset reliability, PM compliance, and long-term equipment performance. Clear expectations are set, team members are held accountable, and an environment of trust, ownership, and continuous development is created. Technical and leadership capabilities are developed within the team through hands-on coaching, feedback, and structured development plans. Effective prioritization, management of competing demands, and ensuring maintenance activities are executed in a structured and efficient manner are crucial. Cost control is balanced with operational reliability, making data-driven decisions on repairs, capital, and resource allocation. Commitments are delivered, high standards of consistency are maintained, and critical tasks are completed without the need for escalation. The role leads with a “plant-first” and business-oriented mindset, understanding the impact of maintenance decisions on production, quality, and cost, and aligning actions with overall plant performance goals. Projects with clear scope, timelines, and deliverables are led or contributed to, ensuring successful implementation and measurable impact.
