Maintenance Manager-Waste and Recycling
About The Position
Our client, an established waste management and recycling organization, is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Manager to oversee equipment maintenance, repairs, and mechanical operations at its recycling facility in Asheville, North Carolina. The role focuses on maintaining equipment performance, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe, efficient facility operations. The successful candidate will perform hands-on maintenance, including welding and mechanical repairs, while coordinating maintenance priorities and supporting the reliability of recycling equipment and operational assets. The position also contributes to preventive maintenance practices and practical improvements to equipment performance and service life.
Requirements
- At least five years of relevant maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, waste management, recycling, or similar operating environment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and equipment maintenance skills.
- Demonstrated welding experience and the ability to perform hands-on maintenance work.
- Ability to identify equipment problems, determine appropriate repairs, and prioritize maintenance needs.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance practices and equipment reliability.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work hands-on while coordinating maintenance priorities and supporting facility operations.
Nice To Haves
- Experience maintaining industrial equipment, heavy machinery, or material processing systems is highly desirable.
- Mechanical, welding, or recycling equipment certifications are advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Oversee routine maintenance and repairs to support reliable operation of facility equipment and operational assets.
- Diagnose mechanical issues, identify equipment failures, and perform repairs to minimize downtime.
- Perform welding and related repair work to maintain and restore equipment functionality.
- Support maintenance planning and preventive maintenance practices to improve reliability and reduce unexpected breakdowns.
- Identify recurring mechanical issues and recommend practical solutions to improve equipment performance and extend service life.
- Coordinate maintenance activities around daily facility needs to minimize disruption to recycling and material processing operations.
- Promote safe work practices and ensure maintenance activities are completed with attention to equipment condition and workplace safety.
- Prioritize repairs, coordinate maintenance tasks, and help ensure equipment issues are addressed efficiently.
