About The Position

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing all production machinery, including refrigeration, HVAC, and facility machinery. This role involves overseeing repairs, advising on equipment improvements, and managing maintenance systems to maximize plant capacity while minimizing costs. The manager will also lead the maintenance staff, ensuring a safe working environment and promoting plant safety performance. Additionally, the position involves overseeing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, performing diverse maintenance duties on production machines and plant equipment, and acting as a lead to train and mentor the maintenance leadership team. Recordkeeping of all maintenance activities is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Ten or more years of related maintenance experience
  • Five or more years of managerial experience
  • Excellent understanding of maintenance strategies and techniques
  • Extensive knowledge of technology including trends, opportunities, and products
  • Must have knowledge and emphasis in mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, PLC, fabrication, hydraulic, pneumatics.
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and direct projects
  • Strong ability to instruct and lead and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to make quick and decisive decisions; good judgment and common sense required.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Strong math skills
  • Computer literacy (Ability to use all related hardware and software)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all production machinery including refrigeration, HVAC, and facility machinery.
  • Work with purchasing to order machinery parts.
  • Oversee repair of valves, pumps, regulators, cylinders and controls.
  • Advise management of replacement machinery or parts and areas to improve the equipment in the facility.
  • Manages maintenance systems associated with high performing manufacturing organizations (Root Cause Analysis, Reliability-Centered Maintenance, etc.) while focusing on maximum plant capacity, while minimizing cost.
  • Assigns proper scheduling of work to maximize task completion with minimal plant disruption, reduction in unscheduled downtime while lowering costs and creating higher plant efficiency.
  • Maintain building to promote a safe working environment.
  • Manages the maintenance staff through delegation, policy and procedure administration, assignment of work responsibilities, planning, organizing, directing and follow-up of the work assignment.
  • Promotes plant safety performance through administration, enforcement of company and plant policy and procedure and training consistent with company objectives and in compliance with Federal and State agencies.
  • Accountable for providing short and medium term solutions and day-to-day support to all operating teams having issues with troubleshooting, problem analysis, equipment failures, etc.
  • Assists the Supervisors in developing and managing an effective Preventive and Predictive Maintenance program using ERP MM/PM Module.
  • Extracts and analyzes program data to ensure a constant state of continuous improvement.
  • Maintains compliance with Key Performance Indicators for tracking and reporting the performance of the maintenance function (supplier performance, equipment reliability, overall equipment effectiveness, etc.).
  • Develop and implement Preventative Maintenance Programs for all production machinery.
  • Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and other plant equipment.
  • Installs replacement belts, filters, gears, chains, and valves.
  • Troubleshoots pneumatic, electric, and hydraulic machine problems and makes necessary repairs.
  • Performs repairs to machines involving machine guarding, bolt replacement, and breakdowns due to mechanical wear.
  • Welds machine components.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks such as lubricating parts, drive chains, etc.
  • Handles installations, including hooking up air, water, gas, and the alignment and leveling of equipment.
  • Resolves all maintenance and mechanical problems promptly with minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Acts as a lead by training, mentoring, scheduling, counseling, and providing guidance to maintenance leadership team.
  • Provides leadership through effective communication and coaching.
  • Provides assistance and support as needed.
  • Ensures a positive work environment exhibiting the company’s culture of respect for all employees.
  • Motivates, corrects, and challenges personnel with a positive approach.
  • Notifies Maintenance Director when problems arise.
  • Maintains open dialogue with assigned team.
  • When approached with feedback and concerns, resolves them in the most direct and positive way possible.
  • Ensures all company policies are followed.
  • Completes maintenance recordkeeping.
  • Keeps record of all work performed.
  • Updates maintenance history logs and completes required paperwork.
  • Accounts for equipment used for maintenance and repairs.
  • Understands and follows the company GMP policy.
  • May assume other duties as assigned.
