About The Position

This position is an essential part of Sherwin’s manufacturing team. This position is accountable for directing the maintenance operations at the facility to achieve maximum production potential at the lowest cost while preserving asset value. They are responsible for managing the site's Reliability Excellence Program, maintenance service and repairs for the entire facility including support equipment and all manufacturing, filling, processing, and transfer equipment as well as managing maintenance employees and fostering a team environment through effective and appropriate communication. Primarily day shift 7:00 am - 4:00 pm with flexibility to interface with all three (3) shifts and periodic weekend coverage. This role will be supervising 5 maintenance technicians. This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company's applicable plans. Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and vendors.

Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Must have a bachelor's degree or higher in Manufacturing Maintenance or Engineering or have at least eight (8) years of Maintenance work experience
  • Must have at least seven (7) year of maintenance experience applying boiler, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic concepts.

Nice To Haves

  • Have at least four (4) year of experience in leadership role(s), supervising others, or leading teams in manufacturing environment.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Manufacturing Maintenance or Engineering
  • Have an industrial, electrical, and/or welding certification or license
  • Have completed formal training in and/or have at least one (1) year of work experience applying continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc.
  • Have prior experience managing engineering/maintenance projects in an industrial environment
  • Have at least seven (7) years of experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing
  • Have prior work experience using timekeeping and/or maintenance management systems

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily work schedules for maintenance personnel for efficient operation as well as approving timecards.
  • Assign priority and make work assignments to mechanics.
  • Assist Engineering and Plant Manager in developing and implementing capital projects.
  • Keeping equipment operating times at levels required to meet production goals.
  • Communicating with other departments and the Operations Manager.
  • Attend daily staff and plant meetings.
  • Promote safety through active participation and support of company safety policies and programs and initiating corrective action for recognized unsafe conditions or hazards and encouraging employee involvement in all Safety initiatives.
  • Plan and direct the supervision of the team members and activities of the Maintenance Department to ensure prompt and accurate response to equipment and facility maintenance needs.
  • Be present daily to meet with all three shifts.
  • On-call on off hours and weekends.
  • Regular survey of plant to identify building, grounds, equipment, etc. to see what needs repair.
  • Personally, repair as well as supervise mechanics in repairing and performing preventative maintenance.
  • Order and/or approve necessary spare parts and other parts and supplies to maintain building and equipment.
  • Maintaining parts inventory with key replacement parts only and in a secure place.
  • Ensures compliance with safety and environmental requirements with respect to regulated equipment and mandatory inspections
  • Follow all EHS regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain shop area and office in a professional manner.
  • Run the mechanical integrity program.
  • Train and develop Emergency Action Team- be a leader in safety, quality and environmental activities.
  • Training employees in the proper use and skill in repairing of equipment throughout the plant
  • Maintaining the safety and welfare of the employees.
  • Ensure fully trained and capable Maintenance staff and maintains a positive work environment
  • Use CMMS computerized work order system for all work and implement the next level of reliability program.
  • Keep abreast of utility cost and make recommendations to minimize energy consumption per unit produced.
  • Meeting maintenance and operating budgets.
  • Meeting Plant and Department safety goals
  • Minimizes downtime due to unscheduled repairs
  • Responsible for purchasing of supplies, equipment services for the Maintenance Department.
  • Maintains maintenance records to track effectiveness of maintenance program.
  • Develop inventory system for spare parts
