Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 3 years of management experience and 5 years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience is required.
  • Strong electrical, mechanical, and troubleshooting experience is required.
  • Strong sense of job ownership/accountability with effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be flexible and able to work overtime and weekends when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the paper manufacturing industry is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Performing functions to support the converting department in terms of organized mechanical maintenance programs, including safety, process improvement, and project management.
  • Supervising technicians and mechanics, coordinating and planning work to be performed as guided by precedent, and working within the limits of established policies.
  • Overseeing personnel and any contractors needed to maintain equipment, as well as the servicing and maintenance of machinery and equipment within the converting department.
  • Checking the production logs every day.
  • Tracking the progress of technician work orders.
  • Closing out the work orders for daily production.
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating repairs, services, and maintenance.
  • Setting maintenance and work order priorities.
  • Assisting technicians in troubleshooting and repairs as needed.
  • Potentially assisting with vibration analysis or mechanical testing.
  • Organizing maintenance tasks and holding daily meetings.
  • Purchasing supplies for the converting mill, as well as necessary machine parts and project work.
  • Reviewing and analyzing equipment failures, liaising with vendors, improving equipment reliability, and inspecting equipment.
  • Maintaining inventory, including a supply of commonly used spare parts.
  • Reconciling costs with production.
  • Collaborating with other supervisors and outside vendors as needed.
  • Ensuring all necessary tasks are completed within the allotted shutdown duration.
  • Supporting production supervisors as well as department technicians and mechanics.
  • Interviewing, reviewing resumes, and recommending hiring and termination of employees.
  • Determining the need for and arranging training on operations and safety of equipment.
  • Completing performance evaluations for the converting maintenance department.
  • Performing or assisting with any operations as required to maintain workflow and equipment running and operations and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Maintaining a safe work area and complying with safety procedures and equipment operating rules, keeping the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Participating in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Communicating to management and subordinates on a regular basis regarding maintenance schedules, repairs, and plans for maintaining the equipment running.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
