About The Position

Precinmac is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the operational integrity of its AS9100-certified precision manufacturing facilities in Texas. This leadership role is responsible for all maintenance and reliability activities for over 130 CNC machines and associated equipment, ensuring compliance with stringent aerospace and defense industry requirements. The Maintenance Manager will foster a culture of planned, preventive, and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime and support critical production schedules. This role requires close collaboration with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Operations leadership to achieve equipment reliability metrics that impact on-time delivery and AS9100 compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field; OR an Associate's degree with 8+ years of equivalent maintenance management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive maintenance experience in precision manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Direct, hands-on experience maintaining CNC machine tools — including turning centers, 4-axis and 5-axis machining centers, EDM (wire and/or sinker), and CMM equipment.
  • Working knowledge of CNC control systems (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain) and the ability to troubleshoot servo drives, spindle systems, and machine tool electrical/hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working within an AS9100, ISO 9001, or equivalent quality management system environment.
  • Proficiency with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work order management, PM scheduling, and equipment history tracking.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical power transmission as applied to manufacturing machinery.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and contractor relationships.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA regulations, LOTO/TAGOUT, machine safeguarding, and industrial safety best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or space manufacturing with direct exposure to AS9100 Rev D internal audit processes.
  • Familiarity with 5-axis machine tools and the specialized maintenance requirements of high-precision multi-axis platforms.
  • Experience with CMM maintenance, qualification, and calibration (Zeiss, Hexagon, Brown & Sharpe, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) methodologies.
  • Certifications such as CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional), CRL, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar) integrated with maintenance modules.
  • ITAR awareness and experience working in a controlled defense manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all maintenance activities across 130+ CNC machines including EDM (sinker and wire), turning/lathe centers, 4-axis milling machines, 5-axis milling machines, CMM inspection equipment, and assembly support systems.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance (PM) program covering mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and coolant systems for all production equipment.
  • Drive adoption of Predictive Maintenance (PdM) strategies — vibration analysis, thermal imaging, oil analysis, and spindle monitoring — to reduce unplanned failures and extend machine life.
  • Ensure rapid response and resolution of unplanned breakdowns to minimize production disruption; establish and track Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) KPIs.
  • Manage facilities maintenance for HVAC, compressed air systems, electrical distribution, coolant/filtration systems, overhead cranes, and forklifts.
  • Coordinate with OEM vendors and field service engineers for major machine rebuilds, spindle replacements, control upgrades, and specialized repairs.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of maintenance technicians; assign work orders, provide technical guidance, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Identify training needs and develop technical skills within the maintenance team, including CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain), PLC troubleshooting, and machine tool systems.
  • Establish on-call and emergency maintenance coverage protocols to support production operations across all shifts.
  • Foster a safety-first culture; ensure all team members follow LOTO/TAGOUT procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards at all times.
  • Maintain full compliance with AS9100 Rev D quality management system requirements as they apply to equipment maintenance, calibration, and process control.
  • Manage the equipment calibration program for CMMs, gauges, torque tools, and measuring instruments in coordination with the Quality department; ensure traceability to NIST standards.
  • Author, maintain, and improve maintenance work instructions, SOPs, and equipment records in support of internal and external AS9100 audits.
  • Support non-conformance investigations (NCRs/CARs) related to equipment and process failures; participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action planning.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history logs, and calibration certificates in the CMMS/ERP system to satisfy audit and traceability requirements.
  • Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget including labor, spare parts inventory, tooling, contractor services, and capital equipment recommendations.
  • Build and maintain a critical spare parts inventory strategy that balances cost control with equipment uptime requirements.
  • Leverage CMMS data and OEE metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives; identify and lead capital projects to modernize aging equipment and reduce chronic failure modes.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on machine capability studies, process change requests, and new equipment qualification/installation projects.
  • Participate in facilities planning activities including new equipment installations, production line reconfigurations, and facility expansion projects.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA, EPA, and applicable local/state regulations including hazardous waste handling, chemical safety, and environmental controls.
  • Participate in facility EHS inspections, safety audits, and incident investigations; drive corrective actions to resolution.
  • Manage contractor safety compliance for all outside maintenance and construction activities conducted within the facility.
