About The Position

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and continuously improving all maintenance activities related to plant equipment, facilities, and grounds. This role ensures production uptime, equipment reliability, facility safety, regulatory compliance, and overall operational efficiency. Initially, this position functions as a hands-on individual contributor without direct reports. As the department grows, this role may evolve to include supervision of Maintenance Technicians and/or external service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, document, and execute preventive and reactive maintenance programs for all plant equipment.
  • Diagnose and coordinate repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and facility-related issues.
  • Organize internal personnel or external contractors to resolve equipment failures.
  • Communicate estimated downtime and repair plans to Operations and Production leadership.
  • Maintain and manage spare parts inventory within economical standards.
  • Oversee cleaning and housekeeping standards related to equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Maintain building systems including lighting, fire protection, alarms, eyewash stations, and safety equipment.
  • Coordinate all city/township inspections and maintain documentation of required inspections and certifications.
  • Maintain safety and efficiency of building, parking lot, grounds, and utilities.
  • Assist in strategic planning and scheduling of facility upgrades and capital improvements.
  • Support plant security requirements as needed.
  • Maintain systems to meet safety and environmental regulations.
  • Support Quality and Operations teams in maintaining plant cleanliness, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Develop and update procedures to meet applicable quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in management meetings and contribute to operational planning.
  • Assist with maintenance budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Track maintenance metrics including downtime, preventive maintenance completion, and equipment reliability.
  • Support production goals related to productivity, quality, cost, and safety.
  • Supervise and coordinate Maintenance Technicians and/or cleaning personnel.
  • Train, mentor, and develop maintenance staff.
  • Administer performance evaluations and wage reviews.
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring.
  • Communicate company plans and policies to the maintenance team.
  • Set departmental goals aligned with corporate objectives.
