The Maintenance Manager plans, coordinates, and directs all aspects of their department to ensure maintenance goals are met while maintaining quality and safety standards. The Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance of equipment, facilities, properties, and mechanical systems to support operational effectiveness. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for supervising and directing the daily activities of the maintenance department to ensure the maintenance schedule and deadlines are met, aiming to build a cohesive team to effectively manage maintenance resources, improve operational efficiency, and reduce costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or another technical field preferred.
  • Ten years of relevant experience in industrial maintenance, including four or more years in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as units of measure, tolerances, basic geometry, and basic algebra.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete or abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including ERP software, computerized maintenance management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ten or more years in Industrial Maintenance with four or more years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and effectively communicate technical issues to technical and non-technical people.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead an effective and cohesive team.
  • Must have excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work and delegate effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general maintenance procedures along with methods, techniques, tools, and materials used in industrial, facility, and property maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of skilled trades, such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects, develop work plans, coordinate maintenance work, and direct the work of others.
  • Working knowledge of production techniques and manufacturing procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize maintenance work for multiple projects and locations, effectively working with the team to meet deadlines and deliverables and ensure the efficient use of maintenance resources.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with team members across the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound maintenance techniques to troubleshoot and resolve problems and offer suggestions for continuous improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently promotes the nuCamp vision, core values, and focus, ensuring alignment and prioritization around operational goals and objectives.
  • Builds and leads an effective, motivated, and cohesive team; Provides leadership that results in a safe and respectful work culture.
  • Supervises and directs all maintenance activities, establishes priorities in maintenance schedules, assigns work, delegates tasks to maintenance technicians, and oversees their work performance.
  • Creates and oversees the on-call schedule to handle problems that arise after normal business hours.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees the preventative maintenance program, schedule, documentation, and record keeping, ensuring reliability and effectiveness of equipment.
  • Monitors strategies for continuous improvement in equipment reliability and effectiveness.
  • Develops and implements a schedule for regular maintenance and upkeep of property and facilities; Monitors the condition of property, facilities, and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
  • Coordinates and administers contracts and agreements with contractors, vendors, and other external service providers; Supervises and oversees the work of external contractors and service providers.
  • Creates and maintains maintenance procedures for production equipment, property management, and facilities management.
  • Implements best practices and procedures to improve overall performance and efficiencies for their department.
  • Analyzes weekly maintenance schedule and coordinates the manpower, resources, parts, and materials required to meet goals for the department.
  • Works in collaboration with other production departments in the organization to ensure maintenance work orders are addressed in a timely manner, and deadlines are met.
  • Coordinates installation of all new equipment.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots machinery and equipment issues and coordinates repairs.
  • Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of nuCamp facilities, equipment, maintenance, and repair techniques, drawing upon that knowledge to coach and train maintenance technicians.
  • Responsible for ordering parts and maintaining parts inventory for effective and timely preventive maintenance and repair activities.
  • Responsible for maintaining an inventory of critical spare parts and ordering tools, parts, materials, supplies, and other resources needed to support production in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Monitors costs and expenses to meet budget goals and ensure optimal cost effectiveness.
  • Responsible for submitting relevant documentation to Finance each week, including purchase requisitions and receipts.
  • Provides regular reports to leadership on the status of maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area; cleans up work area, puts tools, parts, and supplies away at the end of the shift, and directs maintenance technicians to do the same.
  • Ensures maintenance team works in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines, and company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures tools and equipment are inspected before use and kept in good working order.
  • Maintains an accurate record of maintenance operations, details of maintenance work performed, maintenance technician assigned to each job, hours spent on the job, parts and materials used on the job.
  • Participates in problem-solving sessions, offers suggestions for continuous improvement, and offers suggestions to resolve recurring problems.
  • Stays current on maintenance best practices, industry trends, and nuCamp production and quality standards.
  • Leads the maintenance team by example, modeling nuCamp’s core values as well as a solid work ethic and a strong safety orientation; Ensures adherence to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists team members in solving work problems; resolves conflicts or miscommunications effectively and amicably.
  • Responsible for interviewing, training, evaluating, coaching, and managing maintenance team members.
  • Responsible for providing training and continuous development to maintenance team members.
  • Evaluates maintenance technicians regularly to create and maintain a maintenance skills capacity chart outlining the capabilities of each technician for use in assigning work effectively and outlining training and development needs for the department.
  • Identifies the maintenance technician best equipped to complete each job successfully, ensures the technician fully understands the job requirements, and then regularly follows up to address problems and ensure the job is progressing as expected.
  • Assumes a hands-on management role with the ability to perform duties of a maintenance technician, as needed.
  • Directly supervises team members assigned to the department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
