About The Position

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of an Automated Baggage Handling System within a service contract environment. This includes managing maintenance personnel, coordinating support for Neighbor Island flight operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across all maintenance functions. This role ensures operational excellence by aligning with customer expectations, subcontractor capabilities, and internal performance standards.

Requirements

  • Technical education in Electrical, Mechanical, or Control Systems Engineering or similar to Baggage Handling Systems solutions (BHS).
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical role with a strong background in electromechanical systems.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in maintenance or engineering team management.
  • Must be able to attain and sustain an Airport ID Badge
  • Must be able to attain and sustain a Customs & Border Protection Security Seal
  • Must be able to attain and sustain an Airport issued driver’s permit

  • Proven team leadership and performance management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in the local language is preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
  • Airport, baggage handling or parcel systems, airline, or similar experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the maintenance team to ensure efficient and safe execution of all maintenance activities.
  • Develop and manage staff schedules, ensuring optimal manpower allocation and skill coverage across shifts.
  • Monitor team performance and proactively implement performance improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise regularly with the customer, subcontractors, and internal departments to ensure seamless operational integration and communication.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Maintain direct communication with the customer’s management team to develop collaborative solutions and maintain strong relationships.
  • Maintain regular contact with corporate headquarters to align strategic maintenance activities and reporting.
  • Oversee maintenance scheduling, resource planning, and task delegation.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
  • Rotate team members to build cross-functional capabilities and enhance operational resilience.
  • Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Report on maintenance metrics, progress updates, and system performance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze maintenance processes for opportunities to improve quality, reliability, and safety.
  • Leads a department of 30–40 individuals performing interrelated maintenance functions.
  • Responsible for setting priorities, distributing workload, and monitoring performance quality.
  • Focus on continuous improvement of departmental processes and team development.
