About The Position

Responsible for the overall efficient management of the facility you are assigned, which would include, but is not limited to the installation, repair, and maintenance of all food processing equipment, air systems and mobile equipment.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, leading a multi-disciplined team of Maintenance Professionals.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical, controls and mechanical systems, with the ability to teach and train subordinates.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to set, manage and adhere to a budget.
  • Ability to forecast and plan for plant capital needs / upgrades.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and P&ID’s.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and various software programs.
  • Reliability/Dependability – Responds to internal customer needs, questions, and concerns in an accurate and timely manner. Follows through on commitments, assignments, and tasks; is at work when scheduled; uses work time wisely.
  • Safety Awareness – Demonstrates use of safe and proper work methods and follows established safety procedures. Reports and corrects working conditions that may increase risk factors for injury.
  • Knowledge/Responsibility - Has necessary experience, skills, and knowledge to perform all aspects of job; rotates through all job responsibilities. Takes the initiative to continue with the training matrix to get oneself proficient with all the equipment and becomes the expert in every aspect available in one’s facility. Review and take action of one’s decisions and the affect it will have on the workplace, product, equipment, associates, finances, etc.
  • Good Manufacturing Practices/Food Safety – Demonstrates Good Manufacturing Practices and proper Food Safety procedures when performing daily job functions. Correctly wears required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas. Recognizes areas for GMP and Food Safety procedure improvements and shares ideas with leadership.
  • Communication/Teamwork - Balances team and individual responsibilities as well as being clear and direct with team members and customers. Stepping into the leadership role and knowing when to utilize the chain of help (other departments, vendors, google search, superiors, team members, etc.) Exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views and welcomes feedback; uses feedback from others to continuously improve performance and working relationships; contributes to building a positive team spirit; puts success of team above own interests.
  • Organization/Adaptability- Keeping an organized workspace (ex. appearance, desk, toolbox, maintenance shop, etc.). Setting high standards for one’s team to follow. Has ability to focus on the benefits of change and see it as positive; approaches change or newness in constructive, objective manner, views change as learning opportunity; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Prioritization – Prioritizing time management and the workload along with the associates/team one will be directing. Listening to coworkers and team members. Being able to take constructive criticism as this may be a sign that changes need to be made to ensure a better workplace environment.
  • Budgeting - To understand and learn how to manage the budget for one’s facility. Looking into PM’s, PM scheduling, researching parts and supplies pricing, equipment condition and reliability, and the efficiency of the maintenance team.
  • Positive Working Relationships – Listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others’ ideas and tries new things; shares information and knowledge; demonstrates a high level of integrity and honesty.

Nice To Haves

  • Apprenticeship/Trade School certification preferred.
  • Food Processing experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the troubleshooting, repair, and performance of PM tasks on all types of food processing equipment, including, but not limited to, peelers, dicers, baggers, scales, optical sorters, all types of conveyors, pumps, motors, palletizing equipment, fork trucks, air compressors, boilers, and air make up units.
  • Maintain training matrix to reflect current team skill sets and cross-train team members.
  • Plan and schedule work to complete all assigned tasks / PMs in a timely manner.
  • Quickly and accurately identify and solve both simple and complex problems by identifying the root cause and implementing appropriate measures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Drive the team to meet or exceed key performance indicator targets and make course corrections as needed.
  • Drive proactive and preventative maintenance activities utilizing the CMMS program.
  • Maintain and constantly audit for proper critical spare parts.
  • Lead a project from start to finish, adhering to timelines and budgets.
  • Increase Machine Uptime by staying ahead on machine and all other maintenance for the entire facility.
  • Perform rebuilds and/or overhauls as needed or recommended.
