About The Position

Capital Power is seeking a Maintenance Manager for a permanent, full-time position. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance staff to ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely and efficiently. The Maintenance Manager will communicate effectively with the Operations Manager and other internal and external stakeholders. This role is crucial in maintaining equipment reliability and optimizing maintenance strategies within a heavy industrial facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or other equivalencies such as significant experience along with an associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or journeyman tradesperson.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant maintenance operations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
  • Capable of writing maintenance procedures, work requests, and purchase requisitions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals and Piping & Instrument Drawings.
  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Will write routine reports, solve practical problems, clearly communicate tasks and needs, and train other personnel.
  • Role model for quality work, safety and work ethic.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States of America.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily maintenance operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely execution of all maintenance activities and work assignments.
  • Promote and enforce strong safety practices, conduct effective safety/team meetings, and address any safety or productivity concerns promptly.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance using Maximo (CMMS), including resource allocation and work permits.
  • Support budgeting processes by preparing the maintenance budget, monitoring variances, and managing group expenditures to meet financial targets.
  • Oversee outage planning and execution, ensuring the right manpower, tools, contractors, and procedures are in place for both scheduled and forced outages.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, environmental, and planning groups to maintain compliance, improve equipment reliability, and optimize maintenance strategies.
  • Provide strong leadership to maintenance staff through clear expectations, performance feedback, coaching, and resolution of personnel issues.
  • Evaluate maintenance methods, procedures, and contractor work to drive continuous improvement in safety, cost effectiveness, and productivity.
  • Support long‑range maintenance planning and recommend upgrades or new technologies to enhance plant performance and reliability.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment while representing the company professionally with internal teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Perform root cause Analysis and reporting.
  • Interact with other Maintenance Managers within the fleet as well as other corporate level positions.
