About The Position

The WIne Valley Inn in Solvang, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager that will maintain the integrity of the building structure and all systems, equipment, and finishes related to the guest rooms, public areas, food service and preparation areas, laundry, fitness area, building envelope and roof, grounds, and drainage. The position performs hands-on maintenance work and supervises and coaches the maintenance and common area staff. This is a hands-on job requiring daily use of a variety of hand and power tools, using caution and protective equipment as needed for each specific job. Work is performed both outside and inside the hotel. Attention to every job detail is critical to the success of the hotel and to achieving and exceeding job performance requirements. The position may require running errands to pick up supplies, so a clean driving record is required to drive on company business. This position is required to work regularly scheduled shifts and holidays during regularly scheduled days as well as be ‘on-call’ for emergency work. All work is coordinated in conjunction with the General Manager.

Requirements

  • General working knowledge of carpentry, painting, electrical troubleshooting, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, boilers, and sprinkler systems.
  • Ability to conduct minor repairs on appliances and equipment such as washers, dryers, dishwashers, televisions, air conditioning units, and other system malfunctions.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and training skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities and to distinguish high-impact work from low-impact work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to speak with guests and coworkers in English.
  • Fundamental math skills.
  • Personal computer skills, including basic use of Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to use the property work-order system (GuestEQ) and timekeeping system (ADP).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification, or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of employment.
  • Must meet the minimum physical requirements listed below and in the Physical Demands section of this description.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for long periods of time.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift 15 pounds to shoulder height.
  • Ability to see and read, with fine motor skills sufficient to grasp paper, knobs, key cards, and similar items.
  • Ability to speak clearly and hear well enough to interact with guests and employees in person, by phone, and by radio.
  • Hand-eye coordination sufficient to safely use electric and manual hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Know and comply with all health, safety, and fire policies, and maintain strong working knowledge of state, federal, and county regulations regarding permits, health, and safety.
  • Know and comply with all Reneson policies and procedures, including safety, health, and daily operating procedures.
  • Complete and oversee maintenance projects throughout the property, including guest rooms, public areas, food service and preparation areas, laundry, fitness area, building envelope and roof, and drainage, in a professional manner.
  • Establish and maintain an ongoing preventative maintenance program for guest rooms, public areas, food service and preparation areas, laundry, fitness area, equipment, building envelope and roof, and drainage.
  • Maintain accurate, current records of building systems, utility shutoffs, equipment, and required inspections, and ensure all systems are properly labeled and tagged.
  • Ensure the building and all grounds equipment operate smoothly, efficiently, and in an energy-efficient manner.
  • Oversee capital projects and coordinate subcontractors in conjunction with the General Manager.
  • Coordinate the annual and five-year fire inspections with the fire protection vendor, along with all other life safety inspections.
  • Maintain spa water quality and chemical records in accordance with regulations.
  • Maintain adequate replacement stock of maintenance supplies, including televisions, HVAC units, filters, light bulbs, and plumbing fixtures.
  • Supervise, schedule, train, and coach the maintenance and common area staff.
