About The Position

Mercy Gardens is seeking a Part-Time Maintenance Manager (32 hours per week) to join their team. This role is responsible for preparing units for new residents and maintaining the preventative maintenance schedule for a 23-unit affordable housing community in San Diego, CA, that provides on-site services for individuals who have experienced homelessness. Candidates with lived experience are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on plumbing and troubleshooting skills. Despite being a part-time position, it offers full-time healthcare benefits.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Three (3) years of experience in skilled maintenance work.
Technical expertise in one or more building trade.
Legally operate a motor vehicle (valid driver's license and insurance).
Work in a collaborative manner and in a team environment.
Define and solve problems.
Comprehend and communicate in the English language, both orally and in writing.
Present information to groups of people.
Perform basic math and understand measurement systems used in the trade.
Read and interpret electrical, plumbing, and mechanical diagrams and blueprints.
Draft make working sketches.
Use maintenance, trade, and testing equipment and tools.
Effectively oversee work progress of vendors or outside contractors.

Responsibilities

Prepare units for new residents.
Maintain the preventative maintenance schedule.
Work with Property Manager to ensure that budgets are followed.
Meet unit turnover timelines.
Collaborate with Property Manager to ensure that preventative maintenance and maintenance contracts meet the best possible quality and expense standards.
