About The Position

Empire Packing is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee all production machinery, including refrigeration, HVAC, and facility machinery. This role involves managing maintenance systems, staff, and safety protocols to ensure maximum plant capacity and efficiency while minimizing costs and downtime. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of maintenance strategies, extensive technological knowledge, and expertise in various mechanical and electrical systems. This is a salaried position that may require travel.

Requirements

  • Ten or more years of related maintenance experience
  • Five or more years of managerial experience
  • Excellent understanding of maintenance strategies and techniques
  • Extensive knowledge of technology including trends, opportunities, and products
  • Must have knowledge and emphasis in mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, PLC, fabrication, hydraulic, pneumatics.
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and direct projects
  • Strong ability to instruct and lead and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to make quick and decisive decisions; good judgment and common sense required.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong math skills
  • Computer literacy (Ability to use all related hardware and software)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all production machinery including refrigeration, HVAC, and facility machinery.
  • Work with purchasing to order machinery parts.
  • Oversee repair of valves, pumps, regulators, cylinders and controls.
  • Advise management of replacement machinery or parts and areas to improve the equipment in the facility.
  • Manage maintenance systems associated with high performing manufacturing organizations (Root Cause Analysis, Reliability-Centered Maintenance, etc.) while focusing on maximum plant capacity, while minimizing cost.
  • Assign proper scheduling of work to maximize task completion with minimal plant disruption, reduction in unscheduled downtime while lowering costs and creating higher plant efficiency.
  • Maintain building to promote a safe working environment.
  • Manage the maintenance staff through delegation, policy and procedure administration, assignment of work responsibilities, planning, organizing, directing and follow-up of the work assignment.
  • Promote plant safety performance through administration, enforcement of company and plant policy and procedure and training consistent with company objectives and in compliance with Federal and State agencies.
  • Provide short and medium term solutions and day-to-day support to all operating teams having issues with troubleshooting, problem analysis, equipment failures, etc.
  • Assist the Supervisors in developing and managing an effective Preventive and Predictive Maintenance program using ERP MM/PM Module.
  • Extract and analyze program data to ensure a constant state of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain compliance with Key Performance Indicators for tracking and reporting the performance of the maintenance function (supplier performance, equipment reliability, overall equipment effectiveness, etc.).
  • Develop and implement Preventative Maintenance Programs for all production machinery.
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and other plant equipment.
  • Install replacement belts, filters, gears, chains, and valves.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic, electric, and hydraulic machine problems and make necessary repairs.
  • Perform repairs to machines involving machine guarding, bolt replacement, and breakdowns due to mechanical wear.
  • Weld machine components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as lubricating parts, drive chains, etc.
  • Handle installations, including hooking up air, water, gas, and the alignment and leveling of equipment.
  • Resolve all maintenance and mechanical problems promptly with minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Act as a lead by training, mentoring, scheduling, counseling, and providing guidance to maintenance leadership team.
  • Provide leadership through effective communication and coaching.
  • Provide assistance and support as needed.
  • Ensure a positive work environment exhibiting the company’s culture of respect for all employees.
  • Motivate, correct, and challenge personnel with a positive approach.
  • Notify Maintenance Director when problems arise.
  • Maintain open dialogue with assigned team.
  • Resolve feedback and concerns in the most direct and positive way possible.
  • Ensure all company policies are followed.
  • Keep record of all work performed.
  • Update maintenance history logs and complete required paperwork.
  • Account for equipment used for maintenance and repairs.
  • Understand and follow the company GMP policy.
  • May assume other duties as assigned.
