Role Overview (Scope of Role) The Maintenance Leader is responsible for developing, implementing and checking the Maintenance Cost Plan in close relation to the goals of the businesses supported by the Department. Furthermore he/she is responsible for the safe and timely execution of maintenance activities in all departments and buildings on site, by optimally deploying all available resources. He/she also bears the responsibility for the reliability of the assets serviced by the Maintenance Department. He/she provides the primary reliability engineering support for the plants and maintenance organization on site. This role knows the Maintenance Work Processes, Tools and Most Effective Technologies intimately. The Maintenance Leader is responsible for work process utilization, enhancement of the process/operating discipline, defining skills necessary for the work process and tracks / analyzes work process results. He/she is also responsible for achieving the Maintenance goals for the site, businesses and buildings served.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Engineering, preferred Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years of experience working in maintenance roles in a manufacturing plant setting
  • Experience leading a maintenance organization in a manufacturing plant is preferred
  • Lead and develop people

Responsibilities

  • Leads the Maintenance Organization in all its aspects. This includes creating and modeling a culture of respect and responsibility and developing a high performing team.
  • Is the Process owner and responsible for process sustainability and results: tangible results provide bottom line results/value to Trinseo.
  • The individual is accountable for functional and administrative goals and the creation of a departmental MI Plan.
  • Is responsible for establishing a budget that is consistent with the business’s needs.
  • Is responsible for the creation, implementation and maintenance of the site’s local maintenance strategy.
  • Ensures facility condition issues (infrastructure, utilities, distribution / site logistics) are identified and included in the local maintenance strategy.
  • Performs measurements to validate the effectiveness of the maintenance activities.
  • Leads the organization respecting the principles and goals of ‘Responsible Care’ and ‘Respect and Responsibility’.
  • Supports the activities of the Improvement Engineers and Project Managers on site, as well as supporting the production facilities with reliability expertise.
  • Shares the EH&S and Cost Accountability within the Site by being a member of the Site Leadership Team under the direction of the Trinseo Site Leader.
  • Functions as the administrative leader of all maintenance resources within the department.
  • Fosters, develops, and maintains the skill sets and capabilities of all employees in the Maintenance Department.
  • Is responsible for the effective deployment of all Maintenance employees.
  • Is accountable for or the safety, productivity, quality and overall effectiveness of the Maintenance work force.
  • Articulates the expectations of all maintenance employees via the Site Leadership Team, Facility and Site Maintenance Strategies, MI plan and through common behaviors.
  • Is accountable for measuring the performance of individuals against the expectations of the work processes and the utilization of most effective technology.
  • Is accountable for functional goals and for establishing the financial plan that is consistent with the businesses needs and for supplying best in class maintenance service through the use of effective leveraging of resources.
  • Has the primary responsibility for the Maintenance department cost performance.
  • Accountable for the overall application of the Maintain Facility Work Process and overall alignment to the business' needs.
  • Applies, leverages and optimizes the Maintenance Work Processes in all departments and buildings serviced by the department.
  • Removes / minimizes the maintenance silo by continuously striving to improve systems and people to support historically non-maintenance activities in the Operate Plant domain: process cleaning, small process changes, project participation, reliability issue resolution, and input on all projects.
  • Applies best maintenance practices to achieve and improve optimal equipment availability.
  • Demands use of the Management of Change (MOC) work process for value added improvements.
