About The Position

The Maintenance Lead is responsible for performing and supervising plant maintenance of rendering process equipment. This role ensures that equipment and buildings are sanitary and in good repair, reporting directly to the Plant Manager. The Maintenance Lead troubleshoots and repairs process machinery and hydraulic equipment, changes electrical breakers and starters, and operates various meters. They follow preventative maintenance schedules, provide leadership to the maintenance crew, and train Level 1 and Level 2 Maintenance personnel. A key responsibility is ensuring all Company safety procedures and safe operating standards are followed, in accordance with OSHA, and conducting regular safety inspections. The role also involves managing daily inventory of supplies and parts, attending safety meetings, and potentially serving on the Safety Committee.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory position / overseeing plant personnel in an industrial setting or in combination.
  • Proficient in basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in maintenance with industrial equipment and/or combination of vocational training.
  • Ability to competently perform all the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to effective customer service delivery, integrity, and the ability to work productively as a member of a team or work group.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical, mechanical, and welding procedures.
  • Prior rendering experience preferred.
  • Advanced welding experience/skills preferred.
  • Vocational school training preferred.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and supervises plant maintenance of rendering process equipment.
  • Ensures equipment and buildings are sanitary and in good repair.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs process machinery and hydraulic equipment.
  • Changes electrical breakers and electrical starters; operates voltage, amp, and ohm meters.
  • Follows preventative maintenance schedule on all plant equipment.
  • Provides direction and leadership for the maintenance crew and daily activities and duties.
  • Trains Level 1 and Level 2 Maintenance personnel.
  • Ensures all Company safety procedures and safe operating standards are followed, in accordance with OSHA.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of equipment and regularly scheduled safety inspections.
  • Manages daily inventory of supplies and parts, ensuring replacements are ordered in a timely fashion.
  • Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
