About The Position

This is a non-supervisory role designed to assist and provide effective communications for the maintenance team, reporting to the Maintenance Manager. The position is hands-on, requiring the individual to carry out maintenance work alongside the team and set a high example through their work ethic.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship or craft training program.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a mechanical maintenance function.
  • 2-5 years’ previous industrial/manufacturing experience.
  • 2-5 years’ electrical controls experience.
  • 1-2 years previous leadership experience (small team).
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Software.
  • Light Microsoft office suite experience.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a continuous manufacturing operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
  • Operation of power and manual tools.
  • Operation of light and heavy equipment.
  • Tools, materials, methods, and practices used in mechanical maintenance related to production equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring safety and maintaining a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Facilitating maintenance work requests from the production floor, determining priority, and ensuring coworkers are aware of priority and assignments.
  • Ensuring team members comply with all safety and good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Communicating equipment breakdowns and estimated repair times to production, maintenance management, and quality assurance.
  • Conferring with vendors, management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend improvements.
  • Conducting meetings at the end of each shift to update incoming maintenance personnel on the status of break downs, repairs, and troubleshooting.
  • Conducting meetings at the start of the shift to go over shift priorities, assignments, and training.
  • Actively participating in preventive/predictive maintenance processes.
  • Testing and adjusting equipment to meet performance specifications.
  • Initiating purchase orders for parts and machines.
  • Leading inventory control.
  • Assisting in the development, implementation, and evaluation of maintenance policies and procedures.
