About The Position

The Maintenance Laborer works to continuously improve safety and environmental impact by minimizing or eliminating workplace hazards and injuries. They advise the supervisor of any unsafe conditions or equipment problems. This role requires a thorough understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets and compliance with OSHA Safety Standards and ISO14001 Environmental Standards. The employee will work closely with the Chemical Management System to maintain compliance and participate in training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques.

  • Able to operate fork trucks and aerial lift along with operating a power washer
  • Posses a well-rounded understanding of the equipment in our facility
  • Employees are expected to work onsite to attend in person meetings and collaborate as necessary
  • Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects up to 55 pounds regularly
  • Ability to read, write, perform basic math calculations, and complete visual inspections
  • Follow the Health, Safety and Environmental Program as reflected in the Health and Safety Policy Statement as well as the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Adhere to the Quality Management System (QMS) and the Quality Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Assists as First Responder to handle and contain any type of spills
  • Collect, sort (non-trash items) and dump trash into trash compactor
  • Collect sort (non-recyclable items) and dump recyclables into recyclable compactor
  • Perform safety and maintenance preventative maintenance tasks
  • Operate floor sweeper daily or as required
  • Remove trash from shop floor daily
  • Clean all machinery and/or equipment with the steam cleaning unit
  • Transport and recycle aluminum chips and trim flash daily
  • Complies with the following OSHA Safety Standards: Hazard Communication; Bloodborne Pathogens; Lockout; Permit Required Confined Space; Hot Work Permit; Powered Industrial Trucks; P.P.E. and Ergonomics
  • Complies with ISO14001 Environmental Standards
  • Works closely with Chemical Management System to maintain compliance
  • When necessary, participate in classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques deemed helpful to performance on the job
