About The Position

The Maintenance Vibration Journeyman will support the site rotating equipment reliability program through vibration data collection, field equipment inspections, condition monitoring, and documentation of equipment condition. The position will be primarily responsible for completing scheduled vibration routes, identifying abnormal equipment conditions, and supporting post-maintenance equipment acceptance checks. The position will also support vibration analysis, lubrication monitoring, wireless condition monitoring, rotating equipment troubleshooting, failure analysis, and other predictive maintenance activities within the rotating equipment reliability program. The incumbent should be self-motivated, dependable, safety-focused, and committed to improving rotating equipment reliability, availability, repair quality, efficiency, and maintenance cost performance. The position will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Planning, Engineering, Reliability, repair shops, consultants, and equipment vendors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years’ refinery, chemical plant, industrial maintenance, or rotating equipment experience required
  • Ability to recognize and communicate abnormal vibration, noise, temperature, leakage, lubrication condition, and equipment operation required
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to accurately enter, review, and communicate equipment information required

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school, industrial maintenance, rotating equipment, or mechanical coursework preferred
  • Vibration Analysis Category I certification preferred or required within an established period after hire
  • Lubrication, alignment, infrared, ultrasound, or machinery reliability certification preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in a refinery environment preferred
  • Experience working with pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, gearboxes, motors, mechanical seals, lubrication systems, and auxiliary equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment operation, maintenance, installation, alignment, startup, and troubleshooting practices preferred
  • Experience collecting vibration data, performing equipment inspections, or supporting condition-monitoring activities preferred
  • Experience with PI System, Mobile Operator, Emerson Machinery Health Management, System 1, Maximo, or similar systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Complete scheduled vibration routes, field inspections, and condition-monitoring activities for plant rotating equipment
  • Identify, document, and communicate abnormal equipment conditions to Operations, Maintenance, Planning, and Reliability personnel
  • Support post-repair run-ins, startup inspections, baseline data collection, and equipment acceptance activities
  • Assist with vibration analysis, lubrication monitoring, wireless monitoring, troubleshooting, and follow-up inspections
  • Maintain accurate vibration routes, equipment records, field notes, predictive maintenance findings, and condition-monitoring documentation
  • Support pump reliability, bad actor identification, failure analysis, repair-quality improvement, and corrective-action development
  • Maintain predictive maintenance tools and support critical equipment issues, startups, shutdowns, and turnarounds as required
  • Ability to adjust schedules to support critical equipment issues, turnarounds, startups, and business needs
  • Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals
