The Pump Mechanic is responsible for preventive maintenance and emergency repair of the facilities equipment and the operation of maintenance related equipment. This role involves comprehensive pump maintenance, including overhauls, alignment of motors, pumps, and gear boxes, and the installation of couplings, mechanical seals, and packing. The position also requires skills in cutting, fitting, and soldering copper tubing, measuring and fitting threaded pipes, properly installing gaskets, stud bolts, nuts, hoses, flanges, valves, and tank manheads, and correctly installing pressure relief valves and steam traps. Additionally, the Pump Mechanic must be able to operate heavy equipment such as a cherry picker, forklift, and similar equipment, and drive a truck with four-speed standard shifts. This is a non-exempt, hourly position with assigned shifts within a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
