About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a Maintenance/Janitor for their Great Falls Corps in Montana. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment through regular janitorial and maintenance tasks, as well as safe setup and teardown of sports equipment. The position is regular, part-time, and non-exempt, reporting to the Youth Center Director/Business Administrator.

Requirements

  • Six months to one year of previous work experience, preferred.
  • Able to complete daily duties without supervision after 90 days.
  • Capable of following verbal and written communication in the English language.
  • Knowledge of janitorial cleaning and procedures.
  • Able to follow directions and instructions from supervisor, written and verbal.
  • Must be able to perform daily tasks.
  • Follow all TSA/OSHA safety policies including awareness of safe lifting, use of chemical products, shoveling, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Keep all glass clean in the front entry area.
  • Thoroughly clean all toilets, urinals, sinks, mop floors, and clean drains in bathrooms.
  • Clean mirrors and countertops as needed in bathrooms.
  • Empty garbage cans, cleaning inside and out if needed.
  • Ensure soap, paper towels, and toilet paper are in bathroom dispensers.
  • Deep clean areas in the building as needed, including scrubbing, shampooing, and disinfecting problem areas, with deep cleaning scheduled daily on Fridays.
  • Perform janitorial duties as necessary in the gym/floors.
  • Sweep, mop, buff, and vacuum floors as necessary.
  • Dust mop and wet towel the gym floor daily, wet mopping as needed.
  • Complete specific gym set-ups for various youth and adult leagues per Center Director instructions.
  • Perform snow removal on sidewalks and general walking traffic areas as needed.
  • Conduct normal ground maintenance as required and directed, including lawn maintenance, parking area maintenance, tree and bush maintenance, and sweeping sidewalks.
  • Keep grounds free of litter and empty all outside garbage cans.
  • Responsible for softball field set-up, including dragging and lining the field for games.
  • Sweep and wet mop the kitchen floor as needed.
  • Clean stove/grill and wipe down all units as needed.
  • Clean walk-in cooler and freezer as needed and monitor temperature on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for all room set-ups and tear-down for groups using the building.
  • Conduct daily inspection of the entire building for cleaning priorities, checking bathrooms, hallways, kitchen, gym, conference rooms, and upstairs classrooms.
  • Walk outside grounds and check for garbage or areas needing attention.
  • Prioritize and adjust the daily schedule after completing the walk-through.
  • Ensure all lights are changed as needed, with special attention to exit lights.
  • Vacuum all areas, including rooms, offices, hallways, and the chapel weekly.
  • Dust as needed, including windowsills, door jambs, and doorknobs.
  • Make sure all outside doors and gates are locked upon leaving for the day.
  • Perform other duties or activities as may be assigned by the Supervisor or Corps Officer.
