About The Position

The Student (Maintenance Technician) is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repair work on production equipment and facility systems with assistance and supervision of the Land O’Lakes Maintenance Crew and Management. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant processing equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements and adhering to the schedule. The intern will accurately document and capture work and parts into the JDE E1 system, and will be willing and eager to learn the plant and develop skills through on-the-job and assigned training. Additionally, the intern will maintain a clean and functional work area, tools, and shop equipment, maintain maintenance logs accurately, follow the Pine Island preventative maintenance program, and perform additional duties as scheduled or requested. The role also emphasizes proactive recommendations for maintenance improvements, ensuring efficient operation of plant, process, and equipment, while protecting and prolonging the economic life of plant assets at the optimal cost. Quality and reliability are key, requiring adherence to 1QMS and LMS guidelines, monitoring and following GMPs and allergen programs, and completing training requirements. Safety is paramount, involving proper lifting techniques, adherence to plant safety rules and procedures, encouraging safe work techniques, and completing safety requirements as described per the LOL Pine Island Program Curriculum.

Requirements

Must be a current student seeking an associates or higher in a maintenance, electrical or related field.
Must have mechanical aptitude.
Must have problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to work with people and must possess the interpersonal skills as identified above.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair and maintain plant processing equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements and adhering to the schedule.
Accurately document and capture work and parts into JDE E1 system.
Maintain work area, tools and shop equipment in a clean and functional manner.
Maintain maintenance logs accurately and neatly.
Follow the Pine Island preventative maintenance program.
Perform additional duties within the department or plant as scheduled or requested.
Make recommendations to reduce and improve maintenance work wherever feasible.
Monitor and follow 1QMS guidelines.
Communicate quality concerns to appropriate personnel regarding defective product in timely manner.
Monitor and follow GMPs. Follow allergen program.
Complete and maintain the training requirements for your position.
Keep management and associates well informed of relevant information.
Completes all work in accordance with safe and workmanlike manner protocols.
Follow sustainability practices.
Use proper lifting techniques when performing Maintenance duties.
Follow plant safety rules and procedures.
Encourage safe work techniques for all employees.
Perform all duties safely and to use discretion to prevent injuries.
Complete safety requirements as described per LOL Pine Island Program Curriculum.
Work in a team environment.
Follow written methods, paying close attention to details.
Follow specific work direction and adjust as necessary to accomplish the job.
Maintain legible & accurate records / paperwork as required. Accurately record notes in JDE E1.
Communicate product quality issues to appropriate production personnel.
Explain equipment, product quality, or production issues to maintenance, lab, or other production personnel during pre-shift meetings, at shift hand off, and during your shift.
Communicate positively to all LOL, customer, regulatory or vendor representatives as needed.
