About The Position

The Maintenance & HVAC/R Technician supports the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all production equipment, facility systems, and HVAC/Refrigeration assets. This role performs installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration systems. The Technician ensures equipment uptime, resolves technical issues, and maintains compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
  • 2 years in HVAC/R experience required.
  • Ability to safely operate and obtain certification to operate a fork truck.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and diagrams.
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic schematics and diagrams.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and heavy equipment safely.
  • Computer proficiency for data entry, scheduling, and digital work orders.
  • Understanding of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and DDC controls.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and customer interaction skills.
  • Willingness to work additional hours to meet operational needs.
  • Able to engage in other duties as assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry credentials in HVAC/R preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform emergency and scheduled maintenance on industrial machinery.
  • Identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control-related issues; replace or repair parts; test and adjust systems.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical components, switches, fuses, motors, and control panels.
  • Maintain facility plumbing, water lines, and related infrastructure.
  • Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and work orders to perform accurate repairs.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective materials, and unusual conditions; report issues to leadership.
  • Diagnose and repair refrigerant leaks, compressors, rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, and low ambient systems.
  • Configure and calibrate direct digital controls (DDC) and energy management systems.
  • Perform routine checks to ensure proper operation of HVAC/R systems and environmental controls.
  • Track refrigerant usage, reclaim refrigerants, and maintain EPA‑required documentation.
  • Implement PM schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Follow OSHA, EPA 608, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, refrigerant logs, and parts usage.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and heavy machinery safely (certification required).
  • Coordinate service calls, scheduling, and workload using digital tools.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external service providers.
  • Maintain company vehicles and ensure safe operation during service calls.
