The Maintenance Supervisor oversees hotel maintenance, energy usage and many of the hotel’s safety and security programs. Hotel areas maintained under the direction of the chief engineer include public areas, guest rooms, support areas, machinery, equipment, and grounds. The primary functions include supervising the maintenance of the hotel to prevent additional expenses or loss of business due to deferred maintenance, reviewing management reports, implementing company purchasing procedures, protecting financial assets, ensuring safe use of tools and materials, using supplies efficiently, and promptly reporting and correcting maintenance deficiencies and safety risks. The role also involves coordinating with housekeeping and front office, understanding hotel features, adhering to company policies, participating in continuing education, implementing preventative maintenance programs for equipment and guestrooms, and representing the hotel professionally. Additionally, the position requires adherence to workplace safety laws and educating employees on these regulations.
