The Maintenance Supervisor oversees hotel maintenance, energy usage and many of the hotel’s safety and security programs. Hotel areas maintained under the direction of the chief engineer include public areas, guest rooms, support areas, machinery, equipment, and grounds. The primary function is to supervise the maintenance of the hotel so that there are no additional expenses or loss of business resulting from deferred maintenance. This role involves reviewing and understanding management reports, implementing company purchasing procedures, protecting financial assets, and ensuring the safe use of tools, chemicals, and materials. The position requires efficient use of hotel supplies and prompt reporting and correction of maintenance deficiencies that could negatively impact guest comfort or operating expenses, as well as risks to safety, security, and health. Coordination with housekeeping and front office for guestroom access and maintenance timeliness is essential. The role also requires knowledge of hotel features, amenities, and services, adherence to company policies, participation in continuing education, and implementation of preventative maintenance programs for major equipment and guestrooms. A professional and enthusiastic representation of the hotel to guests, clients, and the community is expected, along with adherence to and education on workplace safety and health laws and regulations.
