About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Maintenance Helper performs unskilled maintenance work in the daily and preventive care, repair, and maintenance of building systems and equipment. This role involves performing tasks related to plumbing, electrical, roofing, flooring, masonry, painting, mechanical, and carpentry. As a representative and team member of the environmental services department, this position is expected to present oneself in a manner that reflects professionalism and ensures resident satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform unskilled maintenance work.
  • Ability to perform plumbing, electrical, roofing, flooring, masonry, painting, mechanical, and carpentry work.
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment including hand or power tools, company vehicles, or snow blowers.
  • Ability to respond to work orders in a timely manner.
  • Ability to complete work within scheduled time frame, according to budget and priority.
  • Ability to maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Ability to utilize a wide array of tools such as carpentry tools, electrical tools, mechanical tools, masonry tools, and plumbing tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Rotating on-call schedule.
  • Occasional season on-call work (i.e. snow removal).

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned maintenance duties and routine preventive maintenance.
  • Identify deficiencies and follow procedure for correcting problems.
  • Maintain all tools, equipment and supplies in proper condition, and notifies supervisors to ensure adequate replacements are available as needed.
  • Assist with refurbishment projects and repairs.
  • Install, finish, repair, paint, remove and dispose of drywall or other material.
  • Pick up and deliver supplies.
  • Operate maintenance equipment not limited to hand or power tools, company vehicles, or snow blowers.
  • Perform electrical work such as repairing and replacing switches, receptacles, lights, and motors.
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs and installations.
  • Respond to work orders in a timely manner and performs follow up calls as needed.
  • Complete work within scheduled time frame, according to budget and priority set by supervisor.
  • Repair and maintain equipment in resident units and in community.
  • Maintain emergency equipment for Facility systems.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner to promote effective and safe operations.
  • Utilize a wide array of tools such as carpentry tools, electrical tools, mechanical tools, masonry tools, and plumbing tools.
  • May perform painting tasks, as assigned.
  • Perform related essential duties as required.
